Now all you need is someone to design NZWN as it was pre 1990's

I would try and make a basic one - it's just that there aren't any pictures

It's your luck day. I shall hopefully make a Wellington (basic but compatible with satellite mapping) within the next few months. It won't use custom textures though.
It will just be basic with nova type textures and limited modelling due to lack of pictures. Still it's worth the challenge.

THe good thing is, all that really happened to Wellington Intl when it was redesigned was that my dads work added a big are between Ansett / International Terminal and Air NZ terminal.
Everything else is really the same

Go for it Kelburn.
I know there are a lot of others out there that would love a retro NZWN.
The subject has come up before in a few other posts. One very good possible source of info and pics would be Ian Warren. The info he can come up with is astounding !!!
Lawrie.

I'm up for the challenge.
One note
Don't expect to much it wouldn't be too flash I'm not sure what I'd do with the GA area. Probably default boxes. Anyway I'm lazy when it comes to making scenery so It could take a while but it would definitely bring back memories.

Contact Ian Warren and see if he has any old pics of NZWN from the 60s and 70s.
He is an absolute treasure trove on NZ avaition history and info.
As for the GA area, rather than FS9 boxes, perhaps objects from the EZ Scenery or Runway-12 libraries may look better. Just a thought...............

I'll make the airport look as close to the real thing as I can.
I'm basing it on what it looked like in 1980's-1990's
I've got a few pictures so I should hopefully be able to make it out.
My biggest problem is lack of info and pictures so I will try and get them.
Anyway just remember to remind me so I don't forget.
I should have started by Friday next week. (e.g. drawn out everything and got all the pictures and made a start)

I pm'ed Ian still waiting for a reply.
Anyway I also emailed Wellington Airport.
I've decided on what I'll do.
1960's When the airport was open - just the one terminal with the walkway.
1980's the new intl terminal with airbridges ad the old terminal now being used by Air NZ
1985-1998 the new old terminal with Ansett/ Intl terminal plus New Air NZ terminal with new airbridges.

Sounds good to me.
Both the 60s and the 80s versions would be good for the Retro-AI aircraft.
Wouldnt mind a 70s version though......................
Seriously, .....whatever you can manage, i know would be really appreciated by a very great number of people, including myself.
Lawrie.

I'd say the 60's version will sway more towards the 70's but the airport didn't change much in that time anyway.

Sounds a bit of me................................
My favourite era was the 70s NAC Wings of the Nation era.

O.k. I'm starting at the moment. Ian didn't reply and neither did Wellington Airport so I'm not sure what to do on that part anyway. I'm starting with the 60's/70's scenery.

Wellington Airport not replying,.............. well, not surprising.
Sometimes it takes forever to get answers from airports (if your lucky enough to get one at all).
I know Ian is a busy man, and it sometimes takes him a while to answer queries, especially if he is hunting through his VAST collection of NZ Aviation data.
Try again in a few days, and see what happens.
Lawrie.

Just in case you are wondering I am making the Retro NZWN. Firstly I'm making the 60's/70's one.
