Wow, look at all those little critters!

These are great, it looks like a fantastic project youve got going. Has there been any thought or work done on possibly recreating the old NZAA, NZWN, NZCH terminals of the day? Remember being able to walk out to the gates at Wellington? basically only some plywood between you and the ramp and the sounds of the freindships, boeings and 8's, and the old open air viewing platform? Those were the days when the heady smell of aviation fumes and open air viewing ruled (man, I sound old lol)

hmm when you say "open air viewing" you can still do that at NZCH ae, I like going up on top of the terminal, snifing the jetfuel and watching the planes , they are very close to you

AAARRR Those were the days.Loved seeing the Bristol Freighter and was that a DC8 There also.I think the last time I saw a DC8 was when it was being cut up for scrap.It was being used on a training flight and hit the deck when the reverse thrust was applied a little too early.

I would LOVE to see NZCH NZWN NZAA etc with buildings of the period !
Unfortunately its something that i dont have the time to get into. Hopefully some more proffessional scenery guru here in NZ might take up the challenge.
And i feel "OLD" as well mate. I remember those days very well, i can still smell the fuel, and i can still hear that lovely high pitched whine of those Rolls Royce Darts on the F-27s and Viscounts. Unique sound !!

Are all those planes hard on FPS?

The reason I ask is because some of those AI are flyable models arn't they?

Hi Andrew,
The F27, B737, DC-8, DC-10 are ALL AI models.
The Bristol 170 was originally a flyable model, but has been shrunk to make it a more fps friendly AI model for those with lower end systems. The original flyable model had NO impact at all on fps on my system. Its not as detailed as a lot of flyable models are.

That's the other great thing about this phase of FS2k4 - yesterday's state-of-the-art flyable is today's very nice AI model.
I probably wouldn't hesitate to use any FS2002 flyable as AI today.
I am going to stick with FS2k4 until my computer upgrades allow me to run Heathrow (UK2000) in real-world weather at 100% AI (that's maybe 200 aircraft in view) and getting 25 fps.

I can do that Charl (27 fps Heathrow UK 2000), and my machine is 3 years old next week !

The machine was born 3 years ago, on this very desk that i am using to type this on....
Its getting old, but it still does the business for FS9.

All sliders maxxed, and especially, ground shadows turned ON.

Still not quite right without the old Welly airport

I am willing to contribute model-wise to an old welly airport if someone is truely thinking about getting one off the ground.

Charl, sliders are ALWAYS maxed, and shadows on. I want to see all there is to see !! I LOVE scenery.....................

Dont worry,.....going back further and adding DC-3s is in the pipeline.
And you didnt see the Viscount there, because it was retired by the time this NAC era came about, having been replaced by the B732 on the main trunk routes.
But,......., you will see it, along with DC-3 later on in another release depicting the 60s era in the White/Blue/Red stripe National Airways livery era. Hang on for a bit longer. Also, the Skybus Viscount will make an appearance in another package yet to come.

Hi Ronindanbo.
Wouldnt it be incredibly grand to have a few airports of the 70s era
NZAA, NZHN,NZNR,NZGS,NZNP,NZPM,NZWN, in the North Island , and NZWB,NZNS,NZCH,NZQN,NZDN,NZNV in the South Island come to mind, just to name a few. I wish i had the time and the skills to do something like that, let alone all the time needed in research as well as the actual building.
Well, you never know, somebody might take up the challenge, if they have a lot of time on their hands..........................
