Hello

Has anyone had any issues with the runway elevation at Whangarei? - I have the exclude statement in scenery.cfg, and replaced the flatten file as described in the instruction, however the runway is well below the airport and taxiways :( - I have tried with and without the flatten file, removed and reinstalled the scenery, and even tried removing one of the squirrels AFCADs which is in the vicinity thinking it may be pulling the runway down, but to no avail.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards

Did you do BOTH of the following IMPORTANT steps in the install instructions ????............................

IMPORTANT STEP !!

Open Whangarei's "Scenery" folder, and COPY (not move !!) the file named AF2_NZWR.bgl into the FS9 / Scenery / World / Scenery folder.
Navigate to the folder FS9 / Scenery / Ocen / Scenery, and DISABLE the default
flatten file named FL994440.bgl by RENAMING it to FL994440.bgl.bak .
From the folder called "Default Flatten Mod." in the downloaded zip, move the file named FL994440Snow.bgl into
the FS9 / Scenery / Ocen / Scenery folder.
This default flatten replacement lowers the elevation of Whangarei Airport, and stops it from sitting perched
high up on cliffs in the Red Baron NZ 20 metre mesh.

If you have NOT done both of these IMPORTANT steps CORRECTLY in the install instructions, you WILL get what you are describing with the lowered ruways, taxiways etc...........

I have the same problem, and have installed it all as per your instructions.

well, I rechecked again, and I have:

1. replaced the flatten file with the one provided
2. have the afcad file in the two places.

and still have the runway (or is it airport) elevation issue. makes for fun takeoffs and landing though.

Regarless Lawrie, your effort in creating these sceneries for us is much appreciated!

Many thanks - Ran

These problems are usually legacy issues...
Check whether you don't have any old NZWR scenery somewhere, then
Search your entire FS folder for "NZWR" and see if there isn't an old AFCAD lurking.
Remove what you find anyway, just in case, and reinstall the new scenery.
Last resort, move it up the priority list, if it's then OK you know you have legacy stuff down there somewhere.

Thank you Charl,............. I was going to suggest looking in FS9 / Addon Scenery / Scenery folder in case there was a stray NZWR AFCAD in there, say from something like GNZLAP maybe.............................

I disabled my 'AF2_NZWR.bgl' in Addon Scenery/scenery but found another in Scenery/World/Sceney.

Now my Whangerei airport shows two seperate grass runways, the numbers 6 and 7 both on the tarmac and houses across the taxiway

Andrew,............. REMOVE the AFCAD that you found in the FS9 / Addon Scenry / Scenery folder,..............
Start from scratch,............... also REMOVE the AFCAD in FS9 /Scenery / World / Scenery.
COPY the AFCAD that came with the Whangarei download from Whangarei's "Scenery" folder into FS9 /Scenery / World / Scenery. You need to have the AFCAD in BOTH places to reinforce the local flatten at Whangarei.
One AFCAD in FS9 / Addon Scenery / Whangarei_Airport_NZWR / Scenery,
and the COPY of that AFCAD in FS9 / Scenery / World / Scenery. Nowhere else !!
DO NOT MOVE the AFCAD from Whangarei's scenery folder !!
To make sure they are actually the SAME AFCAD in both places after you have done this, hover the mouse pointer over each one for a second, and it will the show the date and time the file was created,....... they should both be the same.
I assume you have also done this as well,............................................

These important steps are exactly the same as Robin does with some of his RealNZ sceneries, to reinforce the local flatten.
In fact, it was his design to do it this way, as the default flatten modification, and the local flatten for the airport were both custom built for the scenery by Robin.

Thanks for your patience, Lawrie- all my elevation problems are solved! :) I had mistakenly moved the AFCAD from the Addon Scenery/Whangarei/Scenery folder into just the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder! Sorry for the nuisance I caused!

However, I still seem to be getting houses sitting on the taxiway out to the grass strip- do you know how this can be solved?

Hi Andrew. Happy you got the elevation levels sorted. No trouble on the patience, youre welcome, only too happy to help if i can.
As to the houses on the taxiway etc, they can be caused by a number of things...........
From my own experience with them,.............. Real Environment Pro, and Ground Environment Pro have this affect ( they both change autogen locations of buildings and trees), and also VOZ can do it as well.
I no longer have any of the abovmentioned in my sim for this reason (they do it in places overseas as well, not just NZ.)
Charl had trees in front of the hangers at Whangarei in his sim with Ground Environment Pro, and Naki had trees all over Hamilton Airport with Real Environment Pro.
I use Ruud Faber's FScene - 3 , which also changes the placement of autogen buildings and trees, (in conjuncton with the fabulous "Tree-X" trees), but i have no addon scenery any where in the sim that has trees or buildings on the airports as a result of using it.
You can get the exact same effects and autogen placement from the free Spring Texture package he did a while back, just not the other 3 seasons textures, but the autogen remains the same in any season.
The only other alternative i can think of, would be for you to make a local exclude for the area of taxiway that is affected.
