When it comes to AI aircraft I am the ultimate newbie :blink: I need help and probaly so do a few others.Here's the problem.I downloaded those beautiful aircraft from the 70-80s.I followed the instructions.That was the easy part,howeverI don't see them :o I know that I have done something wrong,plus I had a couple of files that I didn't have a clue where to put them.The instructions said to put them into a temporary folder,I think.

Could someone please give a newbie like me a very detailed explanation on how to install AI aircraft,and where every file goes.After I had followed the instructions,to the best of my meagre ability,what I found was that they were amongst my flyable aircraft.I knew that was a no no.I hope that if an answer can be given,then it will become useful to others like myself

Yes lawrie I got it all sorted.I've been down to Wellington watching them take off,oh what a sight,brings back the memories.

For the others who do not know of the trouble I had it was very simple.I followed the instructions to the letter,however My aircraft didn't show up.They showed up with my flyable aircraft in the list but not at the airport.I don't think the AI aircraft are supposed to show there,anyway I spent the whole night trying to get these aircraft to show and it was a no go.Now let me make it very clear.AT no time did I blame anyone for this happening except myself.I went back and checked the instructions.all was ok in that department.SO,I had a good look at the pics.and then the damn light came on.

Now when I'm Flying I usually take off from a grass strip.A Freindship however does not,nor does a DC10.Hello.I went to Wellington,oh boy,aircraft all over the place,the ones I wanted.I"m Claiming a senior moment as my excuss and lack of knowledge with AI.Snowman ,You and your team have done an excellent job,and I am already looking forward to your next release.Thank you for your help,and remember what I told you about parking the boot where the sun rarely shines.

Hi Neil,
I'm not usually one for "parking my boot where the sun doesn't shine", just because someone made a mistake. We ALL do that, including me.
When we meet, i might just park my hand in yours, and give it a good shake.
How about that instead ? :D
Very pleased that you got it all up and running, and that its what you wanted to see.
And, yes, it also brings back many happy memories for me as well, seeing those NAC colours in the sky again. :)

Here's a list of config stuff that I use. I delete a lot of the lines that aren't needed for AI aircraft. This is about all I include in my AI entries...but you can do what you want. :)

[fltsim.0]<----change this number by 1 for each additional repaint ([fltsim.1], [fltsim.2] etc.)
title=AI F-27A MNL-Miniliner I-MLQT<--This is the line that goes in the flightplans aircraft.txt file
sim=AI F-27A<---this must match the .air file in the main aircraft folder
texture=MNL-Miniliner I-MLQT<---this must match the texture folder for your repaint or it wont show up in your sim
atc_airline=Miniliner<---ATC callsign. If it's wrong, atc wont call out any callsign
atc_flight_number=344<---the aircraft's flight number (duh!)
atc_heavy=0<---A '1' would add 'heavy' to the end of flight number (Minilier 344 heavy, for instance. I only use on aircraft larger than 757)
atc_id=I-MLQT<---Aircraft registration number
atc_parking_codes=MNL<---The airlines ICAO code for parking assignments
atc_parking_types=Cargo<---type of parking spot assigned to your repaint
prop_anim_ratio=-1.76<---ignore this one. don't know if it's safe to delete or not.
ui_manufacturer=DWAI<---who made the model or aircraft. Shows up in the 'select aircraft' screen.(Dee Waldron AI for instance)
ui_type=F-27A<---Type of aircraft that will show up in the 'select aircraft' screen
ui_variation=Miniliner I-MLQT<--sub type of aircraft in 'select aircraft' screen
description=Fokker/Fairchild Friendship F-27A AI model for Flight Sim ATC traffic. Model by Dee Waldron, repaint by Jason King<---Boring information

I also disable my AI aircraft from showing up in the 'select aircraft' screen of my sim using a utility called AirEd. This will improve your FS9 load time significantly at start-up. It's available here: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=3856
