I have taken to the brilliant CT-4e for flight training latley, and as stunningly awesome as Nigel's model is, its VC isn't quite as realistic as it could be. I have found a pretty high quality pic on airliners.net of an RNZAF CT-4e cockpit which shows almost exactly what guages need to go where. What I really want to do is give it a higher quality texture and put the most realistic guages possible in the right places, and make nearly everthing do something (no point having a texture for lots of things when it could be a working guage). So is there anyone out there in the world of cockpit designing that could help lead me in the direction? Or, by all means take on the challege themselves tongue.gif . I dont have any picture editing software for making the textures, other than MS paint, but I kinda know how to place guages, I just need a bit of help fiding the correct ones to use.

ANY advice would be well appreciated

I would say there is very little you need to do but go for MP , Nije has simply kept this model very workable and a lotta fun smile.gif , SMOKE ON SMOKE OFF biggrin.gif

Upgrading the texture sheet with a better texture is fairly easy- Moving gauges is harder- adding new switches etc is impossible without the source files AFAIK

yea, i was thinking that. and correct me if im wrong but the ADF will need replacing with an RMI. creating a new texture file will be tricky without software. i could give GIMP a go, i just need broadband to kick in again so i can download it tongue.gif

James Eden and I set out to build a CT4e a number of years ago but never finished it. I started by building the gauges for what was going to be the VC. It didn't get very far. I made 3 gauges, and not one of them got to the point of getting XML code written for it. They're literally just graphics.

I have an altimeter back face, ASI back face, an RMI (all components, modelled on the Bendix/King KI 229 used in the real ct4) and the 3-gauge unit containing cylinder temp, oil temp and oil pressure - again, no needles. All are built from cockpit photos of the ct4 and mostly in photoshop format.

You're welcome to have them if you're interested.

im interested, but im not too sure about coding them tongue.gif i dont have photoshop either so i wont be able to open them. i hate to quit things but... microsoft really did make FSX a tough game to customise
