IRIS released their built-for-FSX version of the Avro Vulcan bomber this week. With the exchange rate the way it is you may wanna hold off a few weeks (or years) but if you're like me and have as soft-spot for the british delta-wing cold-war bombers then you'll probably be impressed by this. They have some nice videos on YouTube showcasing the aircraft flying, and the startup procedure etc. The VC looks sweet, and it sounds great. Here's the blurb from the website:

Take to the skies in the iconic Vulcan bomber, the spearhead of Britain's nuclear deterent during the cold war years! Featuring an aircraft, fully compliant with the Flight Simulator X, Software Development Kit. This product has been developed with FSX in mind from the ground up and takes advantage of many of the fantastic features FSX has to offer.

edit: heh, I see on another part of their website they have a 'Mode Changer' which will allow you to change between 'Realistic' and 'Easy' modes for the Vulcan

Great stuff Paul, I knew about the incident but had never seen those pics. How's this classic quote from the above page laugh.gif ...

never really talked about was the fact that the crew in the rear, who had no ejection seats, inserted the safety pins into the pilot's ejection seats, and told them they would get out all together, or not at all.

The irony and fact was the backseaters were more highly trained and regarded in respect to wizzo electronics , makes ya scratch your head .... What were they thinking , ejector seats for the boss's only .

Looks a nice model.
One of my favourite planes...but a shame it was only the two pilots who had ejection seats.laugh.gif

Note the differences in reporting between the narrator on the youtube video there, and today's modern media (i.e. what they would say if this happened today).\

Remarkable shots as well Ian - those 3/4 angle ones from the front look stunning.

Yeah ! , very little space and viewing the real world , very little or nothing , one Falklands mission was over 16 hours , it really is an inviting cockpit in some weird way

Sure was an amazing mission - especially from the point of the inflight refuelling challenges! Black buck 1
