Have we got any NZFF members that do or can do conversions of virtual cockpits from FS9 to FSX.
I would have a go at doing one myself but haven't got a clue on how to do it so is there anyone that could help by steering me in the right direction.
I have a AW650 Argosy work perfect in FSX but the VC is only partly there and would like to get it in full working order.

What i do that is pretty simple ,go to the panel folder of the aircraft you are modding [C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\C172\panel] open up the panel cfg with note pad ..

which should look like this exsample below

now you just go through the other panel folders of other aircraft that you like and change gauge lines apart from the numbers [=Cessna!Heading_Indicator,]or [Cessna172!EGT_Fuel_Flow]etc for the ones that you have in the aircraft you are modding ,,it is best to use default fsx aircraft replacement if you where to share the mod you have done otherwise you can use your payware ones but keeping in mind they are copyrighted to that company etc ..
just save your changes with notepad and check out the vc ,,the numbers are just the placement of the gauge on the panel ...

the textures in this folder also can be played around with using photoshop or gimp maybe
the 2D panel works the same way..

as for modding the 3d modeling of a VC is a no go unless from what i remember X aircraft made with the X SDK come in two parts VC and Plane fuse so you could build a new VC for a plane if you knew how ...

i hope ive given you enough to understand sort of and you can make a start
mike

ps :always backup and save somewhere else before you start so you can always go back if it doesnt work out

This is the problem I have pic one is the virtual cockpit of the Argosy in FS9.
Pic two is what I get with the virtual cockpit of the Argosy in FSX is there any way I can fix this or convert the FS9 one so as to get the same result in FSX.

Ah ok this is a texture thing of course and the fix could be a reformat of the texture or it could be as it looks a alpha channel problem where that is a "mite be able" or "not" to fix ,,if you lead me to the download i will have a look at the textures of the vc and see what i can do about it, as ive never seen this before in a coversion to X or done that way in the modelling of a vc ,so im keen to see what it is now and have a play ...

It is not a conversion to FSX it is a FS9 aircraft that I put into FSX and it works fine apart form the vc and what I was really after was if someone could convert it so the vc runs in FSX.
The FS9 download is http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...leinfo&id=1
I find it a very good classic Safe Air aircraft to fly I have flown it all over NZ from NZKT to NZNV and to the Chatham Islands in FS9.
Now I am on FSX I miss having the vc as I am using a matrox triplehead with 3 22inch monitors and trackIR 4
This is another aircraft that that I have the FS9 HS 748 Hawker Siddeley (Mt Cook livery) and would like the FSX conversion http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...info&id=672
Another aircraft I have is the FS9 Carvair it would be nice to find a FSX version of this one two it would be more difficult to convert as it doesn't have a 3D vc but I have the FSX DC4 and the cockpit should be the same if it could be configured to work in the Carvair http://classicbritishfiles.com/index.php?o...info&id=474
Any help in any of these would be nice, I am very good at building computers but when it comes to playing around with programs im lost unsure.gif

After downloading this file i unzipped and seen a texture folder with the addon so i opened it up and also seen textures for the aircraft heres a pic below of the texture folder i mean

in the texture folder there are these extra textures pic below

just drop them in each one of the texture folders for the model

i just put the gauges in gauges effects in effects and she fired up thumbup1.gif

this has a very heavy flp rate in FSX VC down to 15 on my system and around 18 to 20 on outside view and has one problem with a texture see below but the rest is there and ive done no mods to it ...
i did turn the main textures to DX1 but didnt really see to much of a result

so id say that is what you needed to do with the extra textures and that they where like that to cut down file size "maybe"
you should also be able to do this with the other rick piper model but the last one i looked at didnt seem to have a vc to it ??
anyway all the best with your fsx flights

Thanks for that Mike.
The other one I would like to do is the Carvair is it possible to copy some of the texture files from the FSX DC4 to the texture file of the Carvair
There are 4 vitual cockpit.bmp in the DC4 textures and no virtual cockpit files in the Carvair textures
Maybe it will be a trial and error exercise
I have replaced the Panel in the Carvair with the DC4 one and it works fine in the 2D cockpit so should work in the vc too if I get the right files in the textures
