Bit of news picked up from the Alphasim website......

They will be releasing a FSX version of the BN Islander shortly (says before Christmas) and judging by the screenshots, it looks VERY nice. Now we need some good NZ repaints and it will be perfect for flights to Gt Barrier or Milford.

Full details here:-

smooth landings.

Dont worry HT - its coming out in with a bunch of NZ schemes including GB Xpress and I expect Milford Flight Seeing - check this thread out at SOH (scroll down) - most of the model is developed right here in Tauranga by Dan from AS and is actually based on a GB Islander.

That's really great news, I've been waiting for a good Islander for FS for a very long time, and to have one available with the NZ connection is just fantastic. clapping.gif

This is worth waiting for!!!

I'm intrigued by the look of the beach+water in this pic. Looks way better than anything I see with my FSX - with water @100%. I wonder what they used?

Actually I have a lot of fun with Marcel Kuhnt's Islander and Trilander http://www.m-r-software.de/. It comes in many forms and has great sound. There is also a Milford Sounds sightseeing scheme (and GBA too I think). Good VC too.

Absolutely one of the best flightsim models, ever.
It has these "Easter Egg" buttons and functions - I didn't realise you could change the visible passengers until much much later...
And the soundtrack is one of the best in the business.
Be interesting to see how the new one shapes up.
I forgot Marcel did a Trislander, one of the ugliest aircraft ever, certainly one of the most bizarre.

They might put out a FS2004 version. See here

If the BN becomes available for FS2004, its going to be a very good aircraft.

I've always been a fan of the Islanders- usually I see or hear them twice per hour, en-route along the Tamaki Estuary from AA to GB, and have enjoyed recreating that flight in FS.

Marcel Kuhnt's model has been on my system for ages- it looks great, but I've always had issues with over pitching up on takeoff- not sure if that's just me, or I somehow installed something incorrectly as the instructions were all in German!

Alpha's model looks really slick though- those FSX screenshots are just drool.gif (Your montage is also exceptional cowpatz!)

I really hope that the FS2004 model they have in the works makes it to the end of the production line!

Ah yes the mighty Trilander.....a poor mans DC10. A master at generating noise and converting it into lift smile.gif
Any panel shots of the Alphasim Islander? So many good models are spoilt by poor panels. A shame as that is what you need to use to fly em! Even just a good 2D one.

Hmmm ... not cheap ... almost as much as FSX itself! And I'd have to pay extra as I'm over my download cap sad.gif

I dived into their forums ... seems like *loads* of issues. Do you have it? Has it been buggy?

I don't have it. Won't have it until someone gives it to me or I get a job! smile.gif

Back on topic - more previews here - including Milford Sound Flight Seeing paint. Now we need a FSX Queenstown to go with it.

I had the same problem, which is why I eventually stopped using it.
