Climbing hard out of NZAP. Ever seen a fat boeing take off in 4500' ? I still haven't :-)

Guess where we're going ...

Left hand down a bit

This weather is far too nice. I'd better start updating it ...

This is more like it !

So that was a couple of nights well spent. Maybe in a couple of weeks now I'll get some time to go flying laugh.gif

Cheers
Gary

Very nice paintjob on the B727 Gary !! thumbup1.gif
As a matter of interest,.......... who's model is it ??
Ive got the JustFlight B727 Proffessional,...... now that paintjob of yours would look good on that !!

Many fond memories for me too Ian,............. my favourite era in NZ commercial avaition,....... The NAC Wings of the Nation era,... NAC's "Golden Years" as they became known.......... Remember the NAC marching girls add on TV that was filmed at NZCH on a Saturday afternoon ??..........

Thought id better go an have a look at NZAP in the REAL original ZK-NAC.......................

Ready for startup at Gate-2

Tight fit getting past that B-1900D at Gate-1,........ didnt want to brush wingtips

Ready to Rock'nRoll.............

Not the prettiest takeoff ive ever made in a B732, but we got it up before we ran out of runway,......... just

Gears up, flaps are up, aircraft's clean, and climbing rather rapidly..............

Time to take in the beauty of Lake Taupo, and the surrounding scenery..........

Shame this didnt ever happen in real-life,........ but,...... we have a sim,........ anythings possible...... laugh.gif

This old girl, however, is a different story,........ she actullly did made the odd appearance at NZAP, and she was a LOT easier to get in and out in the sim.......
More fond memories,............ a kiwi icon for so many years, and,...... ohhhh, the unique and unforgettable sound of Rolls Royce Darts.............

At Gate-2, all buttoned up and ready for startup........

Clean start on 1, starting 2..........

No problems geting past that B-1900D in the F-27-200..........

Holding short, waiting for a Cessna thats just lifting off..........

Once again Gary, congratulations on a very beautiful paint job,........ it would have looked superb on the Real aircraft. clapping.gif

Ah the days of the high pitched starting of the dart engine and the accompanying wiff of burnt kero (I do love the smell of burnt kerosine first thing in the morning)....tea and scones on the turnaround at Taupo, a thickshake at Wanganui (pre-ordered at TOD so as to be ready on arrival.)

"Four boosters on...select start on starboard...clear starboard....start starboard........"

I spent a few years going deaf in the old "dutch butterbox". Both the 100 series and 500 series. Actually despite how primitive the 100 was she was a much nicer aircraft to land...more balanced.
The travelling public didn't really know how good they had it back in those days. A 40 to 48 seater aircraft servicing most of provincial NZ...even Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Oamaru, Westport and Hokitika! After they left NZ saw a ragtag mixed fleet of aircraft operate those services for the next 15 odd years. Only now have we got back to somewhere we were then with the likes of the Q300 (oddly enough a 50 odd seat, high wing, turbo prop aircraft).

Is there a really good F27 sim model around? I would love something modeled in a similar fashion to Rick Piper's HS748. That is an awesome freeware aircraft with a fabulous panel and sounds.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

The ONLY halfway decent FLYABLE model of F-27s that i know of, are the 2 by Mike Stone. (F27-200, and F27-500).
Many NZ liveries available, Early NAC "Jet-Prop Friendship" livery, NAC "Wings of the Nation" livery, hybrid orange / red Air NZ livery, green / blue Air NZ livery, and New Zealand Post livery.
There are a couple of good F27 panels around, including one with a VC as well.
A few really good Rolls Royce Dart soundsets around too.............
