Flight Experience 737-800

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby AlisterC » Fri May 09, 2008 7:19 pm

Hi all, you might have noticed the 737-800 in my signature this month. Just me doing my bit for the company brand :D

If you would like a copy of this repaint for yourself, feel free to download from here

In order to use the repaint you will need to own the PMDG 737-800 model.

No install instructions are included sorry, but if you own the PMDG, I'm sure you can figure out how to install a repaint

Or post here, I'll see if I can help you out

Cheers

Geez, I'm going to have to learn how to fly the 737 again, so I can get Flight Experience to work in Perth :) Feel free to talk to the boys and see if they want to move their operations to Northam - oh, and if they do, I'd be keen to work for them :)

What model of 737 do they use in the Sim at Flight Experience?

PS. Thanks for the repaint

I think they don't use one, if I remember correctly their 767 (way before the 737) was a flying square box. All the model data and panels etc are theirs that they've designed themselves.

In no way am I connected with them anymore (sadly), but I can say I knew them before they were famous :)

And also what I say may be 100% incorrect, I'm just going on something I'm sure I remembered once :)

I'm pretty sure it is actually the PMDG model, when I had a flight in one the guy switched it to external view to watch my Kai Tak landing, it looked just like Alister's sig.

Yes, the exterior model is by PMDG, but that's where it stops from them. I actually have no idea where the flight model comes from (SeanG might know), and we use Project Magenta in the cockpit for the navdata and FMC software and displays. Plus a great deal of software coded 'in house'. :)
The 767 still exists, just in storage until Russell's retirement probably lol

Hey don't worry too much about the old girl, we dragged her out of retirement for the last Christmas do.. hooked up some visuals and sound, and had her doing touch and go's at NZCH :)

As for the flight model that FE uses, it is built from lots and lots of research, and even more testing <lol> And in the end it comes out flying quite similar to the PMDG (Which I use at home!) so I guess either both PMDG and ourselves got it wrong in exactly the same way, OR there may be some reality lurking in the models <lol>

I had a guy come into botany the other day and flies the 737 for Pac Blue, he said it handles really well, all the thrust settings and pitches are spot on. I got to sit there and learned plenty of tips from him
