Here's a doodle...you have to take some liberties with this one, to fit the roundels on the tailboom etc.
Anyone know what happens underneath?
Assume there's a roundel...
Is there a Serial Number?

I think there were smaller roundels underneath at the wingtips and on the older models large serials on each wing underside. But don't quote me on that, someone may have to go and have a look at the models at the Wigram Museum or at the Ohakea Base entrance.

The RVM at the back of the boom is also a civilian registration, not part of the original scheme.

Looks pretty good though - is this for Alphasim or the FSFrance freeware model? I'd be keen to get my sticky fingers on it...

Kea, it's the freeware version...not quite "our" model but looks like a Vampire alright!

Ian, not sure why, but the NZ5772 markings that you sent through keep locking up my PSP when I try and open it, because its a CDR fileperhaps??, the Camo one was fine.

Can you change the file to WMF format ? .. took it for granted you possibly had Corel draw , i can modify from my end and resend

I had the same issue, couldn't open the cdr files.
Being the impatient sort, however, I simply draped a photo over the model, and filled in some of the bits.
It looks better in the sim than in the paint, strangely, once it has a bit of alpha channel.
It leaves you with some headaches, and probably will look good only from about 3 angles.
I'll finish it and see what comes out, interesting exercise...

Offbeat humour.... ok I can do offbeat; What do you do with an elephant with three balls?

Anyway, back on subject, I don't have any later day photos of the Vampires, and none at all of the under wing detail. Anyone near Wigram? You could get a pick of the one in the Atrium....

Some Airliners.net pics....
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled/De...6136&size=L (OK it's a T55...)
http://www.airliners.net/photo/New-Zealand...8065&size=L (Earlier scheme, with Serial under the wings)
http://www.airliners.net/photo/New-Zealand...XTID&size=L (Ohakea gate gaurdian, big roundels, no serials)

Good luck :)

Charl, I see you have uploaded it to Avsim, looks good

Ian, appreciate it if you can resend in different file type, not having much joy my end

I have a photo I took of NZ5770 at the Southwards car museum about 14 years back, clearly shows large reg under both wings.......might do 72 and 70, only one number to change ;)

Yeah it's up at AVSIM...it's easy to get heavy-handed with photoreal, and I did ;) but thanks to "Wingman" Warren's brilliant intelligence, the bottom birds and script are all in the right place!

Bit behind the 8 ball with life and work getting in the way, with Charl obviously charging ahead, finally got through all of Ian's emails and attachments, and am underway, very early WIP :)

got to work on that tail marking (should check what I am referencing ;) )
