N2 won't reach 20% 747 rfp

When trying to start engines on 747-200 ready for pushback the engines won't start. Either the N2 won't reach 20% It hovers around 10-12% but won't drop or go higher. I waited 3 minutes and nothing happens.

Another problem that sometimes happens is the eninge start switch won't go to the ground start position.

Any ideas? I am following the tutorial video exactly and am still having trouble

You might want to try , qiuk-start ctrl + E , then complete procedure stutdown by the manual , on cold restart all should work . Had few probs like this when it released 6 years back , (payware)

Make sure you have the APU running, and all boost pumps, or cross feed valves open. The APU bleed needs to be on, to give duct pressure above 40psi. Get a checklist, run threw the whole checklist, making sure everything is how it should be, and itll start up fine. Had a bit of trouble myself with the starter, managed to gety it sorted quite easily.

crtl + e doen't work. I should have mentioned it. There is an error message in the top left of the screen. Like when listening to ATIS.

I will try what Jimmy said and turn all boot pumps on. I am following the video tutorials on www.panelshop.(whatever it is) sinse that is where all the files are.

Reset your flight , if you follow the manual as mention by James , APUs /Bleeds and such will work , if not Run the default 747 , get every thing running , then simply change to RFP , all would running then complete the Manuals shutdown .

It still won't work. I start with the ready to taxi and running engines saves but after about a minute the engines shutdown. First ones to shutdown are 1 and 4 then 3 and 2 follow.

I have tried starting with the default 747 with no luck, engines start off. I get it all working to turning the APU on and getting the external power disconnected.

Sorry if it's been mentioned before, and, take note I'm not a 747 pro
But, in the other Boeing fleet, you need to make sure you have turned off the bleeds to the air con systems to ensure all bleed air from the APU is going directly to the engine you are trying to start. Perhaps just in case make sure you have the bleed from the other three engines off, and the bleeds to the air con systems. Then, you'll have APU bleed on, and and engine bleed on, and a crossfeed bleed on if required. You would be able to start a 737 like that anyway. Hope it helps. I really must download that RFP sometime....

You could always sit the aircraft at the gate, slew it 3 or 4 feet into the air, drop it back to the ground and all systems should automatically start running. Unrealistic I know, but it may work as a last resort.

Thanks trolly but I've already tried that but only engines 2 and 3 went on and only for a few seconds

I'm using it in fsx(yes I know it says fs9 only), but the sound and the gauges all work but could that be a reason

Using in FSX would be the problem , it was an original FS2002 base model patch to FS2004 I guess you could try FSX default 747 air/cgf to get it going , known you were tryng to run it in X .... ummm well anyway

The 747 does differ from the others with the pnumatic system, enough duct pressure can be supplied by the APU to start the engines with the PACKS open. Big APU on the 747s. When you have less than 300 on board on the 200 you should also switch of the number one PACK. If the duct pressure gauge is displaying above 40psi then that should be alright, also confirm the engine bleeds and isolation valves are open.
