I had no dout , the PMDG 747-400X is brilliant , all the fancy wing view,s and more  Ok 74 , quickly outta NZCH for a little play

With Scott(scon)Hickey doing a full review at ARNZ http://www.flightsim.co.nz/ was time to check it out .

I chose the freighter with the older designed type series 200 top .

Been airborne now a whiles , all typical to operating , just in X , it looks superb :) hey idea

A Tiki Tour , 2004 Photoreal works fine in FSX , this and many free and others payware , RealNZAuckland is our Destination

Looks little like 'Mount Rainer' close to the Boeing home B-) , Another of Rob's freeware scenery Godzone Turangi, NZ Photoreal at AVSIM

From Christchurch to Auckland , thru 14,500 for Rwy05R

looking at the scenery with brilliant wing view , FORGOT .. hells time to land

Whooa

 A great plane with scenery to suit

:plane:

I with discount for PMDG747X it was,nt so bad having the earlier FS9 model . I think a newbie would never want another if looking for a good payware , this and its Rival LD767 .

Think Scott did quite a creditable review, thanks for the HU.
Ian your pictures show what a Heavy this is, absolutely superb.
There can be little doubt that this is the state of the art for MS Flight Simulator.
I've put off buying this juggernaut because I reckon you might as well go learn the real thing!
But I'm hoping quietly that it will be PMDG that comes up with the definitive 787 - for that one I would give up simming Harvards for a spell...

Amen to that Charl! I can't wait for the day to step into a properly simulated 787 :D
I too Ian used the cheap upgrade for the Level D for fsx, but given I never bought the fs9 747, it looks likely I'll never own it. No great loss, I can just 'favourite' this page and come look at yours from time to time  I'm not much of a long haul pilot anyway.

Thats a great looking aircraft isn't it, you have truly exhibited its real size there, its still a very impresive aircraft.

Thanks
James

This my original FS9 747 , and it was payware , the VMAX 747-200 , now this was well ahead of its time ... Wing flex :o ,

I hav'nt checked tonight , but was made freeware and is still super quality , Active cam users can walk done the back to a window seat :)

The 2D cockpit may be a little dated

as with the VC , one of the first WOW's ,

the walk around ..

the undercarridge detail ahead of its time

I still have the CD , it started in FS2002 !

Go Boeing , Flight Sim 2002 - 2004 - FSX

Go NZ 's premeier flight sim sites NZFF and ARNZX

:plane:

Now back to biss , Whos in for next 747 Screen Shot :)

Guys from ARNZ, check out what else has happened here in the (nearly) year since you left. You'll be pleasantly suprised if you thought this was the template for all posts here... ;)

I have pruned the thread somewhat - I hope everybody has now calmed down now - I fully endorse the comments from Alex and MattNZ :)

Cheers

Paul

By the way nice shots Ian!

Great shots Ian, there is nothing more impressive than seeing one of those massive heavies het the deck- as you have demonstrated in your last two screenshots there (in the 1st post)

BTW, is it me or do FSX aircraft look like they have a layer of moisture clinging on the fuselage rather than a reflection? (Noticable in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th screenies particually in my opinion)

Not moisture but a layer (bumpmaps) show rivets ,seem, structure shape , then add the reflection , looks Brilliant - On saying that , the old FS2002 model QANTAS is equally impressive :)

OK"¦the POSKY 744 v.4 for a whirl out of NZAA

Comes with its own baggage handlers

Ground handling is awful, as always, nosewheel skids along

FDE tends to the hot side, perhaps

The round bits are round, the shiny bits shine...
Downwind RWY 23, fly onto Whitford NDB

No VC, familiar standard MS 2D panel - plenty of others out there, though

At DME11, pop the wheels, flaps, Auto approach.

Very nice detailing here, didn't know there was a light in the back of the wing

Greaser, see the mainwheel bogey tilts properly on contact

Thoughtful details all over, on thrust reverse, inboard leading edge slats retract

And with that, I hit the 1,000 picture limit in Photobucket, you'll have to see the rest in the slideshow:

Yeah I saw the new opensky ANZ model on Avsim yesterday. It looks great with the new paintjob, very FSX-eske and detailed.

Are those ground vehicles from your AGS addon Charl, or are they part of the download?

They come as standard with the Posky 747-400 v4 ;)

Just open the cargo doors Ctrl+E+2 and they appear. Quite a nice addition.
