Payware Pitts Special

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby ardypilot » Fri Aug 18, 2006 8:46 pm

I am thinking about buying the Pureflight-Simulations "Pitts S2A"

I don't suppose anyone here has it already and could give me their opinion...?

For those interested, you can read about the addon here: http://www.pureflight-simulations.com/Pitts_S2A.html

Ah ok nice to have an opinion from a trusted source.

Is it good on FPS? Is it worth NZ$30? What sort of speed does it cruise at?

hhhmmmthats a hard one,, no proberly would be my answer ,it didnt come with more than three repaints and i would have thought that they would have put a better smoke system in it ,,i can think of far better freeware models out there

There's a Pitts?

Wow - I must try that. I have the freeware Christen Eagle (a kind of successor) but the Pitts was my childhood "sit back and watch in awe" kind of plane. What's the aerobatic performance like? does it "do" everything?

Nice shots Mike (nice scenery too ;) )

I think I will still buy it, purly because I love performing aerobatics and aerobatic aircraft!

Some weekend soon, I have been offered to go in a flight and do some aerobatics in ZK-MAD which is a Pitts Special, hence the interest in the S2A rather than the Pitts Ultimate.

Hmmm, 19 dollars EACH, so to get both the standard and the ultimate you're talking 38.

I have bought the "Ultimate" and already I am thinking I regret it. Oh, it flies OK, but on my PC and "out of the box" the ground steering is terrible, as are the rollouts on landing.

The fligt model appears OK. It's enough, just, to keep me interested and want to try using this plane some more.

First taste at landing (without an RTFM yet) was a nightmare - doesn't want to slow down easy...

Tried spinning and stuff. Seems like it will be possible. Vertical stall turn is not too good first time out of the box.

But these are first-flights without any real practice yet. I could well get used to it... I need practice. Certainly it's a looker.

OTOH

FREEWARE ALTERNATIVE - try the Long Island Classics Christen Eagle. This is a lot more fun to fly. Far more controllable.

Get it at Avsim - and this one has a paint kit, whereas the payware Pitts doesn't yet.
