Today Carenado revealed its next aircraft. It is the popular Mooney M20J.
This aircraft was created separately for FS2004 and FSX and takes advantage of all the effects and new features that FSX allows.
The aircraft will be available for customers in the next days and will be FS2004 and FSX compatible.
As always this aircraft complies with traditional high quality products from Carenado.
Nice - thanks for the HU!
looks good
Thinking about this more - Mooneys are very badly represented (other than the crappy default one) in FS and I have a real soft spot for Mooneys so I am looking forward to this.
First plane to achieve 1:1 power to speed ratio - 200mph top speed from a 200hp engine!
So they called it the "201" !
It'll certainly be in my hangar

Guys - the Mooney has been released for FS9 (FSX comes later) and is now available over at Carenado
Download, paint, FLY!
Isn't this a great pastime?

Mooney fills a gap in the hangar. Nice and civilised, no bad habits, relatively fast.
Standard Mooney portrait, pushme-pullyou tailfin:
Model is competent in every way, without improving the state of the art. Has nice shiny bits. Be interested to see what they do with the FSX model to try improving it.
Excellent pilot figure animations, good VC. My test of the quality of a GA model is to look whether the VC prop control changes the pitch of the fan in spot view.
Tick that box. Has great external light modelling too.

Thanks for the HU, was looking for just something like that.

So, I'm still kind of wondering why I should spend $23 on the same old Cessna gauges in a different visual model.
Probably because the real Mooney uses gauges similar to the older Cessnas. Why make extra gauges when the same ones are available in an older FS model (provided the older gauges are satisfactory - which they are).
If you want custom gauges for each Carenado that comes out it would probably cost a lot more than $23 and we would have to wait a lot longer for them to produce the model.

Carenado has released a little update for the Mooney.
(Applicable if you bought before Nov 9).
I like the way Carenado is responsive to the flightsim community.

I'm pleased to announce that Carenado will be giving away a copy of their Mooney M20J to the lucky winner of the December Screenshot Competition! (sorry Charl
)
Well done Trolly.
But mate, try as you might, this will not stop me giving it my best shot ths month!

Dam, I thought that if I set up a prize that you already had, you wouldn't bother entering and give me a chance of getting some votes next month!
Just kidding!

Well, on reflection, maybe it won't be worth entering the screenshot competition this month, after all.
Y'see there is something wrong with the Mooney.
Only after many hours of diligent labour have I been able to fix it.
See if you can spot how I mended it, and why it now goes 25kts faster!

Flipped the stripes on the tail fin
Flipped the stripes on the tail fin
More than flipped the stripes! You flipped all the flying surfaces! Sorry but I like better with the reverse racked fin and wing otherwise it just looks like another Piper etc The reverse racked fin is part of the Mooney trademark/character.
You're right it gives the Mooney its distinctive look.
(And performance edge.)
I bet it didn't "Look Right" though, at the time, when the dictum was:
"If it Looks Right, it'll Fly Right!"
Not the only one to glue the flying surfaces on backward, though:

Ha - thats what a fighter would look like if made by Mooney - pity the Ruskies didn't put it into production
Check this out - this is how not to land your Mooney
