Charl I see you have what appears to be the new WOP P-40 - whats it like? Pity there is no P-40E, K or N (ie RNZAF).

Yep I was so excited by this I completely screwed up Robin's NZTG patch.
I can say it has great sound!
It's one of the few times the household has drawn a line at my flightsim antics.
(The manual says: turn your sound up as far as it will go without distortion.
This is what it feels like to sit inside a P40)

I'll mebbe put up some SS when I've had a play.
Realworld affairs however occasionally interfere...

Looking forward to the screenshots - I know what you mean about the real world I probably won't be around too much for the week from about Tuesday as I have a costant stream of vistors coming and going for the week plus it's the school holidays so I have to keep the kids busy.

Haha yep that will keep them busy. Just spent 2 hours talking flight sim to Lawrie on the phone so no screenies from me tonight either - and I am about to go to bed.

My father built a nice 1/6th RC Scale (retracts, flaps etc) model of the P-40N (Waiarapa Wildcat) - flies nice (apparently but I have never seen it fly) - I'll post some pics of it one day when I get a chance to photograph it - yes it has to be an E, K or N for me.

I'd love a K-5 so I can do ZK-PXL/"NZ3108", the former Alpine Fighter Collection aircraft, but at least an E, M or N should be in there. So what, it's only a B? How bizarre!

Petition time maybe? winkyy.gif I'd like to see screenies anyway...

OK, a few SS as promised.
(Incidentally what are the differences between the various models??)

Detail is remarkable
You can even bend it

But this thing's Party trick is the sound.
Rather than repeat what's been said, this from the Shockwave Forums:

Try this:
Let the aircraft idle on the pavement. Go external and slowly move your viewpoint around. Notice the sound in the front, sides, and rear. This is EXACTLY what you would hear if you were standing at any place around the P40. Notice how the front purrs, and the rear is thoaty as you look down the tail pipes. You will even hear the sound off the prop from the sides.
The recording equipment we use is so precise, that if you are sitting in a room with people, put on headphones (ones that pass through outside sound), record, then shut your eyes and playback, you cannot tell what voices are in the room or on the recording. If you have stereo speakers capable of a lot of volume / bass, put the volume as high as they will go w/o distortion (don't bother anyone who lives in or near you ). This will literally put this P40 in your room.
Then go inside. The Allison engine in the p40 has a unique whine, especially at lower RPM's.
You can also try fly bys.
There you have it - a real P40 in your home.

The later N/K were only stretch fuselage( gives them a more sleek look) to take the extra energy from engine upgrade , Kittyhawk 111 (P40K) , there is also large difference in tail between the anti swing dorsal . I'll look into , so many types , big thing is the version .. maybe its a B lookin at info at moment
The Other major is the 2 nose mounted guns , all RNZAF aircraft were 6 mounted .5 's .
