JF Widgeon repaints?

Postby emfrat » Fri Jul 17, 2015 11:19 am

Does anyone know of any NZ repaints for the JF Widgeon (FSX) ?
I have the Joe Binka one in my Classic FS9, but it is a disaster in FSX.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

I my much doubt it , I don't think it really was well sort after, there was hardly any noise on its release.

I didn't know it existed, until I went looking for an FSX one - was only AUD17, so I treated myself :D

It will be interesting to compare with the default Goose.

I had a quick go at a repaint for the G44 but found any writing on one side of the fuselage cam out as a mirror image on the other. I'd love to know how to fix that. It seems to only use half of the model and mirror the other. I painted up a Tourist Air Travel version (Fred Ladd). Looks ok from one side <_<

Cheers, Paul - it really has too many faults to be worth the trouble of fixing. It does look the part, so long as you don't look too closely, and that is about all I can say for it. Not recommended.

I noticed that only the USCG paint has text, and it is correct on both sides of the hull. The others don't even have registrations.
Maybe something could be done using the USCG one as a base?

I had idea maybe contact not JF but the author , this was something done years back and don't recall what fix was, what dose the cfg. or how dose it compare to the defaults that come with it, maybe post the template just to see, someone here may have an idea in how to fix it.

Little like the Sunderland that should not even been marketed , when you see honest attempts and will give thought into feedback but that on went on deaf ears.

Looks Great Paul B-) , I was wondering what the paint kit template showed , I just thought it maybe something one or someone here could put there finger on it so you can complete it.

I just reused an existing texture and modified it.

Here is the texture sheet:

I'll get a shot of the other side soon.

Here is the other side

I seem to remember it came with a program called 'aeropaint' which I could never get to work on my win7 system. Maybe that would have fixed the problem.

Is there only one template for the entire model , if so , it must be done in multiple layers , was there a paint kit with it or this is hand painted ... ?

Aeropaint .. never heard off that.

There is only one fuse template and out of the five textures there is only one with text on it and it has an extra Decal bmp file
I have the JF Widgeon in my hanger and have had a play around with the JF repaint kit but it don't work because of having just the one template
The repaint kit works fine with the JF flying Club aircraft but not with the Widgeon although the kit picks the Widgeon up.
