Hi all,

Being a real life flying instructor, I know how important it is to religiously adhere to Procedures, and then confirm those procedures with a checklist. I notice that many people just jump in an hit Ctrl-E and fly. For those who are after a more realistic experience, feel free to use the method below.

PRE START PROCEDURES

BRAKES - On
FUEL - Lowest Tank* (if a/c only has one tank there is no need for this)
FLAPS - Check (lower and raise flaps to check working)
TRIM - Check
MIXTURE - Rich
CARB HEAT - Off (cold)
MASTER SWITCH - On
ANTI COLLISION LIGHTS - Off
NAV LIGHTS - On
FUEL PUMP - On
FUEL PRESSURE - Check (positive pressure)
ENGINE - Prime
THROTTLE - Set (open just slightly)
PROPELLER - Check clear
STARTER - Engage

AFTER START PROCEDURES

THROTTLE - 1000 RPM
OIL PRESSURE - Check (positive rise in pressure)
OIL TEMPERATURE - Check
FUEL PUMP - Off
FUEL PRESSURE - Check
MAGNETOS - Left > Right > Off > Both
RADIO - On
TRANSPONDER - Standby
ATIS - Copied

RUN UP PROCEDURES

BRAKES - On
FUEL PUMP - On (if about to change tanks)
FUEL - Fullest tank* (if run ups aren't require the aircraft should be started on the fullest tank)
FUEL PUMP - Off
T's AND P's - Check Green
MAGNETOS - Left > Right > Both
ALL CLEAR - Check (check for people, cones, any obstacles around a/c)
THROTTLE - 1800 RPM
BRAKES - Holding
T's AND P's - Check Green
CARB HEAT - Check (apply carb heat and look for positive RPM drop)
MAGNETOS - Left > Both > Right > Both
VOLTMETER - Check
AMMETER - Check
SUCTION - Check
THROTTLE - Close Fully
SLOW RUNNING RPM - Check within published limits
CARB HEAT - Check
OIL PRESSURE - Check Green
THROTTLE - Back to 1000 RPM

PRE TAKEOFF PROCEDURES

TRIM - Set
THROTTLE FRICTION - Set
MIXTURE - Rich
CARB HEAT - Off
FUEL - Check (####, Contents, Pump On, Pressure, Primer Locked)
FLAPS - Set for Takeoff
IGNITION - Both
INSTRUMENTS - Check
CIRCUIT BREAKERS - Check
HATCHES AND HARNESSES - Secure
CONTROLS - Full and Free
RADIO - Set

RUNWAY ENTRY PROCEDURES

TRAFFIC - Check Clear
WINDSOCK - Check Favourable
TRANDSPONDER - Alt
LIGHTS - As required
Compass - Check

Glad to see you back Scotty , but I'm sooo sorry , Im a" ctrl E " guy ....sometimes it's worse , I'm a "Y+F4" person ..... just to get those pesky non crtl E models going.

But, for those that push the buttons , a great post thumbup1.gif

I do like the procedure, A2A Cessna was classic example off not following my pre-flight , I took off with broken elevator hinges laugh.gif

I don't think I've ever used a printed checklist, real or simulated..... but good info
