Hi Martyfly
I sent all offical details to David 'Dax' Sweetman and is in the process of working on the entire fleet at the moment , I requested the paint plans from Archives paint department at Wigram Air Force World ( Museum) Big THANX to the Staff involved there , so will be the most accurate paint off any the repainted Capsim C130 aircraft yet .
David had allready started paints and on getting the files stopped due to not being accurate enough , this will cover 1966 silver blue pin stripe into the grey 70/80s blue pin stripe.
For the ones who remember 1987 Christchurch airshow display had the early cammo simular to the RCAF paint , this replaced by simular but near lookin all green but is a dark blue to the greens for the final cammo , he also has the current 2004 dark grey scheme and details .
You may want to check the CapSim forum for latests . I may get the oppitunity to test them so will let u no

Hi guys.
Thanks to Ian's images I have a great collection of resources to make the RNZAF C-130 to as close to perfect as possible.
As Ian had also said just as I was about to start the repaints my PSU blew up my motherboard, processor and a hard drive. Ian's images were on that drive. As luck would have it I managed to retrieve them all.
Below is the first progress shot of the first repaint. I intend to make the complete set through the years finishing with the current scheme.
I am also in the middle of a full set of repaints for a VA so I can not promise when I can have them all done but I will work as hard as I can to get them to you all soon.

Hey Ian what a coup!
Well done and thanks for your labours.
And Dave thanks for the heads-up, it's great to hear it from the horse's mouth.
I have a video that needs making...approach to Wanaka, drop like a stone on the threshold, reverse thrust as the gear compresses, stop before the grandstand, back up 30m under prop power, off again.
See I'll have to get current on the Herkey Bird again B)

Supurb re-paint !!! I don't want to be anal but you might want to confirm the colour of the prop tips. I know they were painted white with red band at least from late 70's to present, not red with white band.
In saying that I don't know what era your scheme depicts. When we got the aircraft they were silver/white with dark blue stripes and narrow yellow prop tips and elongated black heater matts on the blade leading edges. They also had roundels with a red circle rather than the kiwi (possibly with a silver fern overlaid).
Later the silver was substituded for gray and the kiwi roundels applied. Not sure when this happened or what colour the tips were late 60's thru late 70's.
Keep up the great work

A quick question:
The topic is headed Captain Sim C-130 H so I suppose it's self-explanatory.
But if I recall there was talk about a similar (better?) version from Flight 1?
Or is it the same?
Whatever, what should we be getting in anticipation, and from whom?

The props tend to be the last thing I do mostly because when I get the props wrong it crashes my PC. This repaint is of the 1969 time scale. If anyone has a photos of the props that would be a great help. Same with the roundels. The images Ian sent me don't actually refer to the type of prop or roundels applied to the timeframes.
Is this the correct image

When Captain Sim comes to making the proper "H" varient I will adjust the repaint to suite and re release it.
The only other C-130 payware product I am aware of is Just Flights release. It is based around the Captain Sim product with some extras like air to air refueling and a great RAF Lyneham schenery.

Hey Charl Samo plane Capsim/Flight1 and its Brilliant !
Dax , LOOKIN SUPERB , Have main resource books away , Deane is your RAF/ RNZAF counterpart so he may be able to get details , I will recheck the plan's incase i have missed any relevant detail .
I am Very sure the roundels on Herc were KIWIs got a pic off NZ7002 Jan 1969 , other publication 1967 still do show old fern style , but from memory whole AF was going thru transition update as with paints .
Lookin at that NZ7002 photo , I personal would say never did a Herc have a fern in the roundel , in same period the Camberra then transition to A4 lost that , Deane you be able to Confirm that .

Made a new roundel. I have plenty of photos of the Herc with the lower grey fuselage but non with the bare metal finish. I do remember seeing a NZ Herc with the fern leaf roundel but I can not remember where. Here are a few shots with the corrected roundel.

I need some help. I have had to make the 40 Sqn emblem on the tail from scratch. Could some one please give it a look and confirm that the colours are correct. It has been difficult to pick it from a picture and I can not find any reference images on the net.

It's a bit big for the forum but it is best to scale images down to use on the repaints than scale up. Loose detail scaling up.
This is what it looks like on the tail

Many thanks

The shaded portions should be much darker, my pics show almost black. There was also a flush antenna panel (ADF?) just above.
Prop was white tip with red band. I have some pics, mail me.

Penny dropped ! .. The southern Cross markin is DarkGrey Shadow / Gun metal Bronze,
Studied photo's from 727 engine 2 nacelle whiles back after Ed Knapp did a paint for the CS727 , just re-installed , and thats were I'd seen it !
I also checked airliners/jetphotos site , in search for closeup , but no joy , same res's
Thats thought also there was an earlier paint , the old equal Dark Blue pin stripe .
anyways I beleive it will be the best source to suit , there was another photo i did see , still tryin to find it .
