Hi Folks,
first time on the forum and I have a question.
Does any one know where I can get a repaint of Rick Pipers Andover in RNZAF colours ?
And has anyone done the Simshed C130 ?

Cheers
Phil

Good first question Phil.
It's one I've meant to ask myself, and I'm sure that horizontal fellow on the NZFF masthead is the one to answer it!
As to the C130 there isn't a paint yet.
However every other C130 model known to flightsimming, does.

I started doing a repaint of the Andover but haven't got far, I need a good hour or so to sit in front of the PC and to be in the right frame of mind to do it, which hasn't happened yet!

Ian Warren (the guy hanging off the wing in the banner above) has done a photo real repaint of the Andover in RNZAF colours, and posted some pics here in the forum of her here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/nzff/index. ... topic=1579 . Though I believe it to be work in progress, I'm sure he'd be happy to send you what he has done so far if you send him a message :)

Hmm... Ian might be on holiday perhaps, I seem to remember him saying he was going away. I have the RNZAF repaint Phil. Unfortunately the repaint is like 30+ MB, so might be a bit much to email. I don't have Ian's permission to upload it anywhere, and as I said above I think my version he gave me is just a work in progress (might even be identical on both sides of the fuselage). If you happened to be in Christchurch it'd be easy to get it to you. Where are you from?

Hi ya , paint still needs a lotta work to match photos , I need to install again , new pc , good thing I did notice that the model worked well in FSX . I have started the oppisite side, i ve looked at the p/plans , but there is a lotta stuff that has to come from the photos , :) to get it right , i can break it down and send , the 30 mg was the full package , only require the Cfg and frames .

Ian :)

I believe the skins/frames and Cfg can go direct thru mail without hassel off puttin to CD/DVD , saves effort and trouble so long as you have the base pack. B)

Thank You Ian,

I have the base pack.
It is an awesome aircraft to fly, it seems very realistic and the aircratft cfg. must be very close to real.
I have been in the 76 and 74 sims at ANZ and they are like they say......just like flying a wet sponge....

I'm currently waiting on the Andover repaint kit to be emailed from Rick Piper, whereupon I will bash out a few repaints. Unfortunately he is a hard man to pin down :(

Will let you know if/when I have any success.

Rick Piper has just given me the paintkit for the Andover

Forgive me for being excited, but I have been looking forward to painting the Andover ever since I first saw it.

I couldn't wait to dive in so I have spent the last half an hour roughing up the first fuselage side to check for fit. Couldn't resist sharing...

I'll do the VIP first, then follow with the delivery brown/brown, the camouflage green/green/brown and the United Nations white. Won't do the grey/green/green yet as it is already being worked on.

Can I ask if anyone has good reference for the United Nations white scheme - it's the only scheme that I am short of reference for?

I looked at getting that Skyhawk Trolly, but apart from the repaints not being anywhere near what the RNZAF aircraft looked like, the model itself looks to be a very odd shape. I think perhaps the fin is too big - definitely the model is out of proportion. At least in the screenshots.

The da Silva brothers put out a series of very nice Skyhawk models a while back. Try and track down the relevant models for those h290.

I'll have a look and see if I can find them too. I think they were for FS2002 originally but they do fly OK in FS9. As far as RNZAF repaints for them go - I'm sure there will be someone on these forums who can help ;)

Unfortunately I have had to compromise accuracy on the stripe at the tail end. Because of the way the model is textured, if the stripe goes any further back than I have done it it starts repeating in various places. I've done a lot of testing and there doesn't seem to be any way around it.

I will send some screenies to Rick for his OK first, but then it is pretty much ready to go - as long as you don't mind about the stripe :(
