P-47 "Joan"

Joan was the aircraft flown by Lt Russel Fredenhall of the 507th FS/ 404th FG. He was hit by Flak on the 25th of June 1944, near Foret de Cinglais while flying at 200ft. His aircraft crashed and exploded and Lt Fredenhall was killed.

Superb Paint JK cool.gif , ....Hit by flak at that alt he could have been killed outright

could be...we'll never know, but I thought it fitting to show the pilot who gave his life for the people in my part of the world as well.

Here the aircraft of a squadron mate, Capt James Mullins, who did survive the war:
