From what I read, this one had a short life.

Are we takling about the colour scheme or the aircraft?

If it's ZK-NZB, it had a simulated engine failure after take off which due a design issue with the aircraft resulted in the number 4 engine going into the reverse idle detent and subsequently the aircraft rolled into the ground.
The Captain and I believe an observing flight engineer were killed. The F/O survived and went on to continue flying with Air New Zealand and I think retired as a 747-200 Captain (cowpatz can probably confirm). The operating flight engineer ended up in a wheel chair and work in Air NZ head office for many years afterwards. Not sure about the 5th crew member who also survived.

Somewhere around my father had photos of the accident but I haven't seen them for many years. They will be in a box somewhere

The crew members killed were Captain Don McLachlan and flight engineer Gordon Tonkin.
