Some great news from PMDG - a B777 a month or two from BETA and FSX 747 V2 within a month or two later after the B777 release.

Gents-

A couple of items that I covered in our presentation that will help to keep things clearer:

- Initial release will be the 777-200LR. This aeroplane was chosen because we have access to it, because it is currently in production and because it has so much in common with the 300ER, which will be the first expansion for the 777 product series.
- The LRs were chosen because this simplifies our engine performance and flight model performance equation significantly.
- Yes, we will eventually model the 200ERs and their various engine options- provided that there is sufficient community interest.
- Yes we will eventually model the other variants provided that there is sufficient community interest.
- No, this will not release in June. (LOL! I wish it would, then I could take the summer off!)
- To beta test you must have at least 1,000hrs time in type, preferably as PIC, work as a technician, engineer or maintenance manager for in-operation 777s.
- Yes there will be an SDK. (it might even be in the initial release!)
- Yes there will be a paintkit.
- The product line will be FSX only.
- Yes we are working with data purchased from Boeing- so yes, the model/nose/tire type/hydraulic fluid/static wick, strobe timing/number of rivets on the leading edge aft of the #6 right outboard slat are correct....

Okay- I think that covers it for now...

I am on the road with a very aggressive schedule until the middle of NEXT week- but we will have a more formal update for you at that time... Lots of goodies to share!
Just a couple things (I have to leave for the day in a sec):

1. Yes, the 744 v 2.0 is Secret Project #2. It's being made in parallel with the 777. A -8 will be made as the expansion and it'll be the full deal with cockpit/systems differences, FDE/engine modelling etc, not just the visual model and sound.

2. I actually have an alpha version of the 777 already running here right now, yes.

I'll let RSR tell you all more when he gets back from the convention (I assume tonight).
Probably just as well with me ... i'd jig it .. snap its wings.. drop in a lake .. s**t i can't swim and just to finish it off barrel roll over Wellington to get some of those grimmey buggers outta the cargo hold .. just to level it out again with the cabin girls getting in the correct position for landing cool.gif

There is anal, absolutely anal, and then there is PMDG.
Listening to Rob Randazzo explain how he would take a little bottle of spray cleaner to remove fingerprints from the cockpit displays, somehow makes it all clearer.
One day when I grow up, I will buy P3D and learn to properly fly their B787 from my Zimmer frame.

Part 3 of 4 of PMDGs presentation up now, in this part Rob talks about the 744 v2, kinda weird how the German crowd dont respond in any way at all when he announces it blink.gif ...

update - sad news for turbo-prop fans, looks like the Dash8 has been pushed a long way down the queue, Rob mentions I (I assume) at 6:30 in this 3rd video where he says its very complicated to model and with their other projects they thought it would take too long to develop, they still WANT to develop it and have some parts done but sounds like its a long way off
Good news for X-plane fans though, they have started porting one of their aircraft, didnt say which one

Well with the B777 and B747 V2 and a Douglas ... it would the Dash something very special on release , other is it shows that one of the leading aircraft company's are showing they are not stopping and continue with FSX .

Well, at least the Dash will get done eventually.

I know Majestic is doing the Q400, but that really is quite a departure from the "typical" Dash-8s that seem to be more populous. Thinking of Q100/200/300s here, and I think PMDG was covering the 200/300 models.
It sounds like the DC-6, 777, and 747 really aren't that far off, so who knows what future aircraft we'll see in store from them in the future. I would like to think that the Dash would come afterwards, meaning maybe around year 2014 or so.

I'm just hoping that it doesn't get pushed back further when users a few months from now start whining that the 737NGX is getting old and needs to be rebooted in a version 2.

Looking forward to the B777 and any decent Dash 8's that come out smile.gif
