As you may know, as pert of my FSX OE I am about to fly through the Ukraine and Russia. I know there are some pretty fantastic Eastern Bloc aircraft out there, but which ones are the best. I am doing a decent portion of flying in Ukraine, as that's where the best sceneries are, so Ukraine oriented repaints would be a appreciated. Na as always, if you know of any great sceneries (preferably for Russia) that I haven't picked up on, feel free to post them. smile.gif

Sorry, I should've mentioned, I'm trying to get around without spending to much, as an opportunity to show off the great freebies that rarely get a mention here. I do like the look of both of those though, particularly the L-39! drool.gif

You might want to read SeanTK's posts , he'd be the most up to-date aircraft in the region .. part off is also finding the types yourself and testing much like the scenery search .

Not a lot out there in terms of freeware Russian aircraft for FSX, but....

Aircraft:

Project Tupolev's Tupolev Tu-154B-2
http://files.protu-154.net/pt-154b2_fsx.html

Tim Conrad's Antonov An-32
antonovan-32.zip

Ivan Jurcaga's Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21MF
http://migsim.ic.cz/emefka.html

Tim Conrad's Aviatika MAI-890
aviatikamai_890.zip @flightsim.com

Kirill Konovalov's Ilyushin Il-86
34990-Il-86X-Install.zip @Avsimrus.com

Thomas Ruth's Antonov An-124 & An-225
23256-tom225x.zip @Avsimrus.com
tom124x.zip @flightsim.com

Jens Kristensen's Ilyushin Il-12 & Il-14
il12_10x.zip
il14_10z.zip @flightsim.com

(It's Czech, but meh....) Tim Conrad's Zlin Z-50
zlinz-50l.zip @flightsim.com

Those are all FSX native. I don't cover ports of varying quality.
There may be a couple more, but it's getting late here and I'm getting tired. If/When I think of more, I'll post them here.

Learning curve:
Conrad's, Ruth's, and Kristenen's are going to be the easiest.
The MiG is going to require a bit of reading but can be brought up to speed quickly.
Kirill's Il-86 is still somewhat of a mystery even to me....
I would not recommend the Project Tupolev Tu-154 unless you have time to study the materials and really learn.

Scenery for Russia:
A comprehensive list is here
http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx/russia.html

Here's some that I particularly like....

USHH Khanty-Mansiysk
29882-USHH-by-FIN350.zip @Avsimrus.com

Kazan UWKD
12280_UWKD_Kazan_X.zip @Avsimrus.com

Omsk UNOO
29881-UNOO-by-FIN350.zip @Avsimrus.com

Berezovo USHB
36943-USHB-BerezovoX.zip @Avsimrus.com

Moscow-Sheremetyevo UUEE
There's at least three major versions out there, so look at the comprehensive page. I think I use scenery II, but I honestly can't remember.

Rostov-On-Don URRR
42342-URRR-Rostov-na-Donu.zip @Avsimrus.com

Pulkovo ULLI (designed for 2004 but works flawlessly in FSX with the update. If you need help let me know.)
39153-ProjectULLL-B6U.zip
40692-ULLL-UPDATE-2011.ZIP

Ukraine (I don't fly here much, but here is one nice one):
Look on the page here under "Ukraine" for more...
http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html

L'viv UKLL
38109-Lviv-Intl-FSX-v100.zip @avsimrus.com

Bed time now, but if I think of more, I'll post them tomorrow.

Unfortunately none of the Samdim items except for the French Mudry CAP-10 are designed for FSX.

Also, most of the stuff marked "FSX" on Rossiya are in fact ports (other than those I covered in my previous post), but it's still is a good metric of what's out there for both sims!

Not familiar with the repaint site, but Avsimrus.com has most if not all of that if you search correctly. smile.gif

The Yak 18T by Alexey Yuzefov & co is my favourite (yak-18t.zip at Flightsim), but not entirely sure if it works in FSX. Gotta love the pneumatic system and the vibr!ating needle on the gauges.
