F86 Sabre Download/Install Troubles

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Hey Guys,

I have a slight problem with the Sabre Install and was wondering if anyone could help. I know it's still a work in progress with the developers for running in FSX, but for all I know there could be an easy fix I know nothing about. Started with a cold start at Auck and was flying to Wgtn in the Sabre after a shift+F refuel because info was saying I was over max weight. So I 100% in all tanks apart from the drop tanks to get under weight. Problem is Flying tips keep telling me I'm low fuel ctrl+x to refuel which I ignored as it dosnt work anyway. Fuel guage tells me I'm A-Ok but half way there over sea I flamed out and had to crash land in the sea. So any ideas or direction to sort problem would be appreciated. Loving this Jet. Oh also night flying Landing lights are so bright you can't even see the runway.

Another link in the forums makes install a little easier.

I am having no lag here Sinzi.Thanks for that link.This is a really great Model.I noticed a message about being overweight also.I flew AKL to WLG hot start.Left and right tanks were empty, as was centre 2 at shutdown at WLG.The drop tanks were still full.How do change over ?I noticed an emergency fuel switch on the panel.So I can not understand why you flamed out .What were you doing when this happened?A sudden increase or decrease in power can cause a flameout according some thing I read on fuel surge rolleyes.gif .Wonder if they have this in the FM.Anyway sure is a neat aircraft.

Thanks Sinz

On the screenshot thread "going up?" is a URL on one of ADAMSKI's posts which takes you to a very easy to read and understand tutorial on installing the SF8 F86. Proper sequence and what goes where.

Cheers Olderndirt.
Yes thats where I started from thanks to Adamski's links. I think I messed up the Install using the FS2004 one and trying to upgrade from there. I should have just unzipped the fixed one and all would have been good. I must have a registery problem now because I removed it all and then just installed the fix but still have a landing lights problem. Sinz=Noob Simmer sad.gif
The pics below are my landing light issue the only issue I now have. Sabre then LearJet at the same time zoom etc.

I am very very impressed with the realism of this aircraft Cold Starts etc. Am happy even though I still have the landing lights issue. It is a Freeware after all.

Went and purchased the ORBX NZSI addon as well (missed the sale angry.gif )already sick on MS's Autogen scenery.
I might have to purchase a Payware aircraft from some NZ makers next. Any suggestions keeping in mind I love my Jets, and of the caliber of Sabre. Would be much appreciated.

Hi Dinga,

Lag didnt last to long. Might have been my end. Yes a great model indeed, I agree. Fuel pump transfer needs to be on as well as the switch on the left hand side (sorry forget what its called). I flew today no worries, NZNV to NZNS dropped tanks (animated) when the tank empty light came on, all worked perfectly. I had made the mistake of having creating a flight from a saved flight where the fuel was way low and had a bad install of the aircraft. Even though I had refueled before takeoff and I was showing plenty of fuel it still ran out on me over the ocean. Managed to glide it towards land and crash into the sea was quite cool. Shame FSX dosnt do more crash realism as I'm sure I would have been good but sinking but intact.

Sinz open the Sabers aircraft.cfg in notepad or your text editor of choice and edit these 2 lines in the [LIGHTS] section by commenting them out.

From
light.6= 5, 8.60, -0.55, -2.10, fx_SF86_landing
light.7= 5, 8.60, 0.55, -2.10, fx_SF86_landing

to
//light.6= 5, 8.60, -0.55, -2.10, fx_SF86_landing
//light.7= 5, 8.60, 0.55, -2.10, fx_SF86_landing

Save it out reload the Saber you should be good to go.
Regards always

Hi Rotordude,

Tried that, No good still doing it. I even tried copying the default landing.fx file and renaming it and replacing the Sabre's file. It's almost like the switch is turning on the fx file 4 or 5 times.

-----
SDK under Lights
The first entry of the line defines which circuit, or switch, the light is connected to (see the code table above). Multiple lights may be connected to a single switch. The next three entries are the position relative to datum reference point. The final entry is the special effect file name that is triggered (for example, fx_navred). These files have .fx extensions and should be placed in the root effects folder.
-----

Cheers for thought anyway. Still happy with it.
