Five of my Sabre repaint downloads, including three by Wild Bill, have black canopies. Is there a fix for this?

It needs an update for FSX, have you installed this? http://fsfiles.org/PA/index.php?act=view&id=38

Thanks for that Alister. Downloaded an Ozx SF260 paint with the same problem and am starting to wonder.

The update works great so I hope you have success with it (tried and tested biggrin.gif ). It's a bit fiddly - a true FSX version someday will hopefully solve the problem.

Unfortunately it did nothing for me. Something I noticed but don't understand. The texture folders with the black canopies are displayed horizontally with .bmp files whereas the good canopy folders display vertically with .dds files. Another similar event - a texture for the Realair SF260, downloaded from Ozx. Black canopy and VC.

Hmm... wish I could help you further, but you probably know more about FSX than me. It isn't some sort of DX10/preview problem? Maybe that's too obvious.. Unfortunately I reinstalled FSX a couple of weeks ago so can't even send you a texture folder of the plane in working order to try that sad.gif

oh, have you tried disabling Transparency anti-aliasing? you shouldn't need that. That's the only other thing I can think of.

A lot of my trouble may be trying too many things. After finding a simplified and easily understood version of the 'readme' in the 'fixup.zip', I went through and corrected several things - including converting any repaint textures to .dds files. It's become a case of 'when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging' so now I'll be a lurker at the SectionF8 site waiting for the true FSX version.

Awesome, please do pop back here and let us know if they release a true FSX version. I don't have the time I used to for lurking. Cheers biggrin.gif

Have you tried copying the 'texture.cfg' file from one of the paints that DO work into the texture folders that do not work?

That has solved some of my problems in the past. Have yoou tried any of my recent paints, they work fine in FSX on my computer, and I'm interested in klnowing if they work for you too.
Try this one for example: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/...-kings-a-queen/

All my repaints for MSFS can be found on flightsim.to
Older repaints for FS9, FSX and P3D are on avsim
More screenshots can be found here

Matter of fact, your 'four kings and a queen' was my most recent download - black canopy like the others and I appear to have created black canopies for some of the SF8 originals. The 'fix up' download, if followed correctly, is supposed to convert texture .bmp's to .dds and there's a glass folder and on and on so think I'll lean back from this for a while smile.gif.

P.S. Each 'texture.cfg' was identical to the one I replaced.
