I have just insatlled FSx and now need some FREE aircraft to fly.
Rule of thumb I fly Heavy metal IFR and am starting to get into warbird and modern militry jets as well. Stock Cessnas etc ok for what I may use one of these for.
Cheers for help,
Adrian.

Search 'Thomas Ruth' in Avsim under Flight Simulator X - Original Aircraft.

Project Airbus A318, A319, A320, A321, A380. Merge the default A321 VC into the A318, A319, A320, A321 and your good to go. All FSX native.

If you're into tube-liners dont forget the following FSX compatible freebies...
  • SkySpirit2010 (formerly POSKY) 767, its a FS2004 model but works fine in FSX (search for SkySpirit2010 at avsim)
  • TinMouse 737-200 has been updated to work in FSX, is a nice model and decent panel (search for Tinmouse under FSX at avsim)
  • HJG Lockheed Tristar L1011, see: http://www.simviation.com/hjg/downloads.htm

Oh, and NZEddy's already mentioned Thomas Ruth, be sure to check out his 727 as well as the Airbus stuff from him

Dave Garwood did some great aircraft, like the Autocrat, Hunter and Beaufighter, and there is this bird: http://www.sectionf8.com/
With the fix, it works really well in FSX.

and let's not forget Ant's Tiger Moth!
