When you say the VC is not as good, what do you mean? Is is fully clickable?

I dont know if it is realistic but on the otter, it lets you select reverse pitch while airborne, this makes for some great fun doing steep approaches with reversers on, 40° flaps then finishing it off with an unbelievably short landing roll.
Other than the textures and lack of breakages (I'm talking things like making engines go on fire from mishandling etc) I think its a good aircraft.

I don't exactly know what "WOW switch" means (is it "weight on wheels"?), but it seems to me like throwing in reverse power while in the air is not only not recommended but also impossible in real world's Twin Otter.

I think I will end up buying it, it's the sort of aircraft I will fly all the time. At 26 odd dollars NZ, it isn't a bad buy either. I'll hopefully be allowed to buy the Aerosoft Cat as well, it is on special again. Maybe as a putting up with cuzzie present
Conner, if you want an Aircraft to go WOW this cockpit looks awesome, WOW it all clicks and shakes and does everything a pilot is not usually interested in DONT buy it go get an A2A kit.
If you want a plane that is really photogenic for screenies, she's not.
If you want a great stol bush wagon and want to actually fly and learn beta range control.... get it aerosoft have done an awesome job on the FD.
Another one to get if you are into neat stuff is the FSD Porter, it's FD regarding Beta range is top class.
You will need to set up your controllers correctly using the axis's to get beta range correctly and not set them to just go into full reverse as this will defeat any functionality...

Damn straight. Beta range and low to mid reverse is used all the time in STOL approach operations. Herc jockeys are big operators in that zone.

Yep...same here Sponge dude...but it was a porter i saw, amazing....i reckon the wheels only moved half a turn when he touched down.....re the twotter, i have it , and love it....dated or not.
@Rotordude....the FSD porter is one of the most underated addons....Ive been flying that thing since it first came out.....just awesome, thanks for mentioning it,she dosent get much press anywhere else.
In fact.FSD...have done some amazing stuff....remember their 337/02....the Navajo....the 115 commander....great stuff

You can't put a Herc into beta range/reverse in the air in real life. They have a stop which prevents the power lever coming back into beta. Having said that the blade angle at the lowest setting in the air (flight idle) is pretty low so it still has a big braking effect.
Or you could try what the Americans tried for a special operation - put reverse facing rockets onto a herc in an attempt at super STOL. Would have worked if one of crew had not operated the switch a little too early while still airbourne and come they a crashing halt !!

Yes that is correct, I was trying to make it simplified for sim useage. In rl yes she has to activate the squatbars before that can happen, in the sim the T-56's do not operate as they should so in a FSX laymans terms for the cptsim c-130 it has to operated in the beta zone, sorry should have been a bit more concise.

Thats cool - was not sure if you refferring to real life or not. In the sim, you could never get things exact and its always a tradeoff. I love that fact!! If I can pull reverse in flight I do it - to make it more fun - see how steep I can descend and how short I can land !!
I love the Otter, both in real life and the Aerosoft version, so go for it!!

To be honest I only found out about the replacement textures today, but I am sure to give them a try. I was hoping that there would be an updated Otter but perhaps this will be good in the meantime. I will post some screenshots if I can get some good views.
