RNZAF Aircraft

Many Many years ago I used to fly Airtourers. I understand the RNZAF uses this aircraft for training purposes but probably not called an Airtourer. Does anyone know if this aircraft is available for inclusion in the fs9 program?.

Hey Pato. The RNZAF uses a modified version of the Victa Airtourer called the AESL Airtrainer. The airtrainer is virtually the same airframe but with a far more powerful engine, and more extreme aerobatic capabilities.

The Victa Airtourer could do basic aerobatics, but it was limited by its engine power. My dad used to own a Victa Airtourer, this one:




I was only small when he owned it, but I did fly with him once or twice. It was based in Nelson, though now I think (but not sure) it is based in Masterton.

As for FS, there is an Airtrainer available:

It is pretty average as far as quality goes, but it is flyable.

Keep an eye out on the RNZAF site as well- lately they have released both the C-130H and the P3-K as free downloads....its possible they may have a CT4 in the pipeline?

Having said that, it looks as if they have updated their site- i cant seem to find those downloads anymore???

hey everyone there is a fs2004 airtrainer on www.flightsim.com just search ct4 and it will come up it is in 3 colour schemes there is the RNZAF one and the RAAF one and i forgot the 3rd one but it is very white and it is a private owned one not a bad model and also about the airforce releasing aircraft on there site i will think you will find the next one in the pipe line to be released is the boeing 757 but i would say the air trainer would be in the burner being worked on lol and probably the king air but one aircraft i would really love to have on flightsim is the RNZN Kaman SH-2G Seasprite

edit are they airforce or navy ??is there a differance ??

hey natas it is very confusing with the seasprite is it navy or airforce good question i can kind of answer that for you you the seasprite is navy aircraft but it is piloted by air force pilots not navy pilots lol and it is serviced by the air force not the navy lol and even if someone could find a good model of a seasprite for flightsim 2004 would be great because i could paint it up in rnzn colours now that i have tons of photos of the seasprite from when it was here in christchurch when the canterbury freigate was here and also when 2 seasprites flew into wigram when heading down to warbirds over wanaka this year.

yeah the only model i know of is from hovercontrol or flightsim both are one in the same and think its fs2002 but comes over to fs9 ok but not the greaters ever model but a good effort in its time ... and yeah thanks for clearinbg that up that means it could be made by them down at whoever does the model for rnzaf

hey natas yeah i have tried that seasprite i even painted it in rnzn colours cause i was bored but it ain't a very good model cause it does'nt even sound like a seasprite or handles like one and the rotor blade movement isn't very good so overall i gave that a poor aircraft mark

As you pointed out the Seasprites belong to the Navy but are maintained by RNZAF personnel. They are not normally flown by RNZAF pilots though.
The Seasprites are pre-dominantly piloted by Navy pilots and crewmen, who gain their wings thru the RNZAF pilot training (or crew training) system. Having said that, on occasions Air Force pilots have been assigned to fly them.

yeah thanks for that deane it is very confusing that system but when they get the new helicopters the training helicotper is to train them for the nh90 and seasprite and iroqouis
