Given the dearth of options for Air***k panels, and the establishment by Marty of the AirTruckers fan-club, I thought I'd build a panel for FSX and FS9 until such time as we can convince Deane to knock out a complete new model. tongue.gif

Anyway, I've got a working bitmap based on some real cockpit photos and some standard oldish-school-as-possible gauges placed in about the right locations. A screenie follows, if anyone wants to trial it and give me feedback let me know and I'll flick the panel files to ya. Have got lots of photoshopping to do to clean it up and a few switches to place but its not far away:

classic, just notice that the work A I R T R U K gets modified by the naughty word filter

Haha... yeah as Marty says the Mule is alive and kicking now.

Ver2 of the panel follows, added some more static panel detail, fleshed out the cockpit sides and added some misc floor plan details from photos of other aircraft, added a new window for the comms panel (shift-2) and gps (shift-3), and re-positioned everything 30px down to make for a little more visibility out the window.

Some things to note: there doesnt seem to be an altimiter in any of the cockpit photos, I guess its visual only and hardly a high-flier? Oh and that strip down the middle of the cockpit window I guess is a glass join or something? not sure if I'll add that in as its pretty distracting. Oh and in true ag-plane fashion there are a couple of holes in the panel where gauges are MIA winkyy.gif

I'm pretty sure I have the same cockpit picture you are using (ZK-CJU). It should have an altimeter (compulsory in all aircraft as far as I know). It should go to the right of the airspeed indicator (remove the compass from there) A compass of the small standby type is compulsory and that is already there on the left of the top panel. The main panel needs an engine manifold pressure gauge. In the pic I've got it goes on the bottom left and the temp/press gauge you have in that spot goes to right of the RPM gauge. I can't work out the last gauge bottom right. Another pressure gauge of some description.

The vertical line down the centre or the windscreen is a wire deflector, to ensure any stray wires are broken or go up and over the plane and not through the windscreen!! Most ag-planes these days have them - including the Cresco's.

The gauge on top with the needle and absolutely no other info. Reminds me of flights I've made smile.gif .

Heh yeah, never know when you're gonna need to scribble something on the back of a fag packet, actually would be cool to make a guage that looks like a pen and have it swing round on a piece of string as the aircraft rolls

The big white gauge in the middle top of that pic is the spray pressure gauge. In that pic it has a cardboard backing with penned lines and writing. Easy to clibrate now you've put a pen in the cockpit !!

See this thread on this NZ forum RNZAF proboards - Air***k thread

Lots of pics

Hey all. Well I'm pleased to announce to Air-Truckers all over the planet that my new panel is now available on avsim.com and flightsim.com (just search for Air***k). Following is the final screenie:

Gauge placement reorganised thanks to the excellent info from Deane, have reduced the size of the spray panel centre top so there's better visibility on approach/landing. Have added a lovely floating compass in a style in keeping with the machine, added lights and strobe toggles, tidied up the cable breaker in the middle of the windshield, and added a strip of panel actuator buttons bottom left.

Despite Alister's justified cynicism believe it or not the panel has been downloaded 50-times already (me only once promise) and I've even had some fan email thanking me for the panel from a guy who's dad used to fly the machines. Classic aye. Enjoy!

Heh, nice idea Doug. Have never contemplated a VC, something tells me thats gotta be a LOT of work, actual modelling and what not. A future up-skilling project maybe laugh.gif

No point in spending a lot of time making a Virtual Cockpit for an outdated model !! If I was to tackle it it would be the wjhole lot. ANd yes typically the VC is more time consuming than the external model as there is generally more animating to be done, as well as custom gauges if you want to include that side of it too.
