I decided to take the brilliantly modeled Red Checkers CT-4E out this morning and start up went well untill it came to the fuel pump, I could not find the switch. I know some aircraft do not need a fuel pump for start up, so I got everything else prepped and turned the magneto over, the prop spun, the engine made "trying to start," noises but it wouldn't splutter into life. After 10 minutes of searching, figuring it must br the fuel pump, I had to resort to . . . icon_twisted.gif Ctrl+E!! icon_twisted.gif. I never want to do that ever again, so is there a fix for this?

Hmmm weird it seems to say above fuel pump that it is auto but if it isn’t well then a switch is missing

I’ll do some more investigating ninja.gif

I did see that there, thought it might be an indicator light or something? unsure.gif

Dare I ask if your mixture is fully rich? FSX doesn't really model priming or fuel pump actions in piston engines. The accusim stuff adds this type of functionality.
As long as you have your mags on and rich mixture with gas in the tank it should start.
It shouldn't effect it but make sure your pitch is fully fine as well, sometimes if you've changed to a piston after flying a t-prop and have recently shutdown then the prop lever will still be in the feather/fully coarse position.

Whoops . . . ohmy.gif

It turn's out I had draged the prop condition to full instead of the mixture. The mixture leaver was hiding under the throttle leaver. Ahh well, learn from your mistakes and all the rest. Don't think I'll be getting my PPL anytime soon though laugh.gif.
Still, I would like to know where that fuel pump switch is.

A day or two before I got my PPL I was flying along solo, put on some carb heat and the engine died! ohmy.gif
Then I realised I had pulled the mixture lever next to it by mistake! laugh.gif ninja.gif

I heard of someone force landing because of that, I hope you realized straight away (or as part of your FMIP checks!!)

And I too have heard of a similar story which happened in a kiwi UH1H..... we should start a new thread and pin it..... "Stupid Things I've Done (or Seen) While Flying"..... worryingly I have LOTS of stories!! rolleyes.gif

As they say..... There are old pilots and there are bold pilots - but there are no old bold pilots!!

Ive taken off with the door open on a robbie. Managed to catch it before the pressure difference ripped it off! Ill never do that again.
