Time for another "screaming Hawker":







It's ZK-CWJ "Aorangi" in its 1977 livery, as shown here:

Has anyone an idea about the lettering on the aft fuselage, right below the registration?
Haven't found any closeups yet...

As you can see, the door's and window's outline width has also been corrected.
Now for the starboard side...

Markus.....which model is that (Rick piper) ?......that early scheme was really nice.....solid colours, big bold titles....real 70's

Markus , the blue has to be reduce to a more pail colour , I have three incomplete paints here , one used in the Evcac used during end off the Vietnam war , the logo then change to MOUNT COOK LINE with a red cross on the forward fuse .. working on the very early intro 748 , this has photo real engine texture course the scheme your current .

Yep. Probably one of the finest and most elaborated freeware packages ever done - at least in my eyes...

The later Mount Cook livery (on ZK-MCB) is already included in the default livery set. I'm not too statisfied with this one, as it's done in DXT3. But I'm still a little hesitant to do a repaint that's already done before by somebody else. Don't want to have this "tee-hee: I can do better than you!" effect...

There are several pics on this livery at airliners.net. Due to the time they were taken, I don't trust too much a certain colour shade, as they are scanned slides or negatives. The colour I used is an average value taken from the various shades, but it won't be a big thing to change it. A standard designation of the blue tone, a comparable shade or even a RGB value would be too much to ask for, eh?

Nice one!
I do have the Marcel Kuhnt Islander (and the respective paint kit), but some kind of high-resolution photograph of the fin's artwork would be inevitable to do this repaint.

I think a repaint in the later scheme would be a great idea, maybe a different rego would save you raining on someone elses parade, ZK-MCJ maybe?

Took another look at the MCB repaint:
It looks better than I thought in the sim. The DXT3 artefacts are quite visible in PSP when extremely zoomed in but disappear in the sim, observed from normal distance. I think it can stay as is.

Yes - that's exactly what I was looking for. I'll see what I an do.
The Islander's creator reserves his right to agree to uploading repaints, so I'll have to contact him first. Takes me some readjusting to post my request on him in german...

Back to "Aorangi":
Judging from the pics at airliners.net, it seems to me like the wings were left in bare metal with the wing root panels painted gray. So this is how it looks by now:





Note the very decent exhaust stain on the tailplane, as the Darts are said to be non-smokers.

Can anyone confirm those blank wings?

Hi Marcus I have a friend who flew for Mt Cook years ago and he has a lot of photos of the Mt Cook fleet so will get in touch with him and see what I can scan from his photos if that would be any help

Markus , Quite typical got side tracked , as soon as Rick released this i was painting , all the way through it operation the engine naccells were polished aluminium .


I had Alister Mcleod played with it here , he flew the 748 from Hatfield , his wife a Stewardess flew its home , New Zealand , the 748 test pilot . The have a
Seniors night and many are avid flightsim people , course Al fell in love with the model .
The tail logo , words are only 'Mount Cook Lilly' the font is quite a bit smaller and thin , less bold .

I'll send these files to you too use , did you want me to finish the engine , last parts have to be built and constructed using panels .

Smoke, exhaust stains on the tailplane , did happen over long period .

Lazy as I am, i copied the "Mount Cook Lily" logo from my previous Twin Otter. But considering these pics (borrowed from airliners.net), I think "The Mount Cook Lily" isn't this wrong:





Your polished nacelles look great too!

Markus - if you google "mount cook 748" and select images, the fourth image shows a lot closer to the actually blue used. Sorry I don't have time to upload this image.

Thanx Markus , did these at the time working on Dunedin scenery as a distraction away from AGNs , they were not released simply not complete and scenery intrivenend .
The 'Mount Cook Lilly' was the standard , 'The' was removed early in the piece , as with the blue is from washed out photo maybe , i adjusted from books and photos here .
The humanitarian mission, had the pilot here , i must dig up the old photos and post here .

Thanks for the hint! This pics obviously shows ZK-MCA at Queenstown (letter "A" at the nosewheel door!). Comparable pic here:

The first link shows nearer to the correct colour , you could be right Markus , the second seems to be washed out , maybe aged , i,m trying to find a photo i have here .
