I have already broken the Dornier - I have had to get the flaps fixed, window cleaned, oil topped up amongst other things. This really is a different type of aircraft sim from my other aircraft - great visibilty from the cockpit with excellent STOL capabilties. Also does parachute drops although the parachutists aren't visible - but you do get scoring points. You can also request your copilot to get the plane ready for flight up to and including the engine started.

Anyway here she is being fixed outside its hanger.

Nice to see this dear old lady down NZ way! I have hade the plane for a few weeks now - she's already "suffered" 8 repaints from my humble brush and there are already at least 16 or 17 on avsim.

She's proven to be an immense hit for flying realism, and when you get used to her quirky nature, she really is a dream to fly. You can almost smell the exhaust fumes.

It is worth visiting the Digital Aviation Forum to see what's new in the repaint market, to get help for handling problems and to post paint requests too...

As for the model, the 3D and basic textures are slightly inaccurate. About 90% of the rivets are correct, but there are panel discrepancies such as the rear doors extending slightly lower than on the real thing so that you can't get accurate rivet lines, or the upper window extending slightly too far down.

There is a revision on the DA drawing boards to fix these and to bring the plane up to FSX speed, but none of these "imperfections" detract in any way from enjoying your flying. An especially neat feature is that once your jumpers are gone, you can close the doors simply by adding one notch of flaps - hey presto, the airflow changes and the door is no longer held up by the airflow. Click and it's shut.

Pull the flaps out too hard - you bend something. Mishandle her in the air - you bend something. Run the engine too long at full throttle - you guessed it: you bend something. And when something is bent, she's a pig to fly! And an even worse one to land safely.

Enjoy! There's real value for money here! Cheaper than a lot of planes and a lot more functions. A good gambit by DA as I am sure that they'll sell many more planes at the cheaper price and thus make more money.

Thanks for the abve info - wil go over to DA and have a look - I am keen on your Portuguese scheme and of course the NZ scheme you have done. These will be my next downloads. Yes I would of never got the Dornier if didn't have the functions it does and was like most of the other add on aircraft out there.
