Interestingly, that T-Bird was the one my brother left at the bottom of the Indian ocean a few years ago.

I recall that incident , the other at Norwa 'HMAS Albatross" preceded the Avalon Airshow , nearing the end of our strike wing .

Wow- has the cause of that incident been identified by now? Scary stuff!

And Ian, you mentioned that at least 50 Skyhawks were delivered to the RNZAF. My knowledge of the NZ airforce is pretty poor, but at only 20 or so left at Woodbourne? What happened to the other 30, obviously excluding the two that crashed?

The paint is a WIP off the 1987 one ship paint to celebrate the RNZAF's 50th year , the early years it was called the NZPAF - New Zealand Permanent Air Force which was created in 1923 with the donation of land by Sir Henry Wigram .

...........Not so bad Andy , I'm sure had we gone to war , the New Zealand Government would have enlisted Allan and myself to bolster the numbers to 50
.....................
This is a clipping received from my brother Allan in Australia , this was twenty years ago , course the details about in the paper clipping , but the big thing is this is from a long lost photograph album that found it way back into our hands thanks to you Andrew (Trolly) for founding the New Zealand Flightsim Forums , cool.gif .. simply NZFF.org and a great effort by Alex Mclean to help pass on information and contact details to get this very long lost and treasured album .

Thank You clapping.gif

NZ6256 - I've got a picture of it in front of me from my dads photo collection. Somewhere in the garage there is a framed photo of it in a vertical climb. Also got a formation pic of 4 or 5 RNZAF skyhawks all wearing different paint schemes, presumably when the second batch was delivered from the RAN, and they were changing from the green and brown to the two/three tone green. It's looking like we'll be moving house in the next few weeks so I'll dig them out and put them aside so I can scan them and post them once we settle in to the new place.

The Golden A4 is nearly complete , i install FSX on this PC just to do something so its not far away , I'll get Adam to host it and Flightsim.com cool.gif

As for the Skyhawk , Fly no ... protect my brother from the ravages of Lyttleton harbour yes .. after the 30 foot drop , nose diving all the way , it was more like a play ground ride as it rose out of the water Allan opened the canopy ..... the 12,000 spectators on the day yelling throw him in , he was the only one who stepped off the rescue boat completely dry laugh.gif .

Ian,

Here's the real thing aka The Benson & Hedges. Note the non colour co-ordinated luggage pod!
