Repaint Requests

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby JoeM » Sun Jun 19, 2011 2:00 pm

Would anyone, anyone want to do any of these 3 requests?
LOTR Air New Zealand A320
Freedom Air A320 Movieworld or standard
Kiwi A320

Any help would be much appreciated,
JoeM.

To paint an Arbust , you may want to stipulate the model biggrin.gif a Kiwi Arbust 320 ? - maybe the 727 and 757 for real and recently done - well 757 by Dean Stringer

You might be suprised to hear this Ian, but Kiwi did have an A320(S7-RGX). There is a photo on airliners.net, which I would hyperlink if I knew if I was allowed or not biggrin.gif

I would, if I had the cs727 or the qwsim 757 sad.gif

Cheers,
JoeM.

They also had a 737-300, lots of painting opportunities there, go for it :-)

Hey Joe, what do you use for your repaints, Photoshop? Gimp? I could send you the logo and KIWI text assets I used on the 757 if you wanted something to use in yours as a basis?

I have the Wilco 737 so was thinking of doing a Kiwi repaint of that, which models do you reckon you'll end up painting? Lots of options for the A320 huh, the Wilco 320 is probably the most commonly used, but the Aerosoft one sure does look pretty.

YES PLEASE! ... to all of those! While you're in the swing of it ... how's about something for the iFly 737NG (or does no-one in NZ operate those)?

JetConnect (Qantas) and PacificBlue both operate NG's to/from NZ but not on purely domestic routes any more, even though they are technically registered here in NZ, see:

Aaah ... yes ... thanks for those links! thumbup1.gif I have both the Jetconnect and PBL liveries, but I can't get them to behave. Maybe I'll have another go at installing them!

Due to an apparent lack of genuine Cessna 340s in New Zealand, I'm wondering if anyone would mind applying this livery (Cessna 402) to Carenado's FSX HD Cessna 340....

You're going to regret saying that laugh.gif ... seeing as you already have a few "under your belt"!

I've done a localised revision of my favourite NZ Warbirds DC-3 - and got sufficiently confused with DXT3, DXT5, DDS, alpha channels, bump maps etc. to want to leave it to the people that know how! I got there in the end, but wow! It can't be *that* difficult though, Shirley?

I think I can cope with the flat artwork, it's when the 3D model does something weird .... I wouldn't have a clue!

Hi Adam,

Can't tell you how much I appreciate you having a shot at this and Ian for encouraging you. I purchased FSRepaint last week with grand illusions of repainting all the aircraft in my hangar. In my first attempt I ended up up ending the can of yellow all over the aircraft. Yellow tyres, yellow exhaust, yellow pilot. Bugger... where's the undo button. Damn, I'll leave it to the experts who've gone down the road getting "sufficiently confused with DXT3, DXT5, DDS, alpha channels, bump maps etc."

I look forward to seeing your results Adam. If it doesn't initially come to fruition as well as you expect I'm sure there are lots of folk on this forum who will be only too pleased to assist. That's been my experience anyway. Just don't go cutting back on your flying time.

Love your avatar BTW. :-)

Oh BTW, here's my yellow submarine.

Regards,
Gary

The way I fly, all my aircraft are submarines! tongue.gif

Here you go, Gary ...

Very much W.I.P. - only parts of the fuselage done, so ignore what's (not) happening to the engines, wings etc. Also, I think I'm using the wrong model at the moment ... with that egg on top winkyy.gif

The letter-spacing on the NZ-528 looks odd, but it's exactly like that on the real thing. As ever, it's the curvey stripes that are the problem. The only way around that, I think is to double up the overall size of the textures to help get rid of those jaggies.

As soon as the basic textures are done, I'll add some detail and bump mapping etc. Predictably, I'm getting quite "into" this! This particular one is a great one to start with, as I used to see lots of Rapides in my early childhood.
