The things we hang on to for all those years !! Thanks for the priviledge Matt, of being able to see your log book. If memory serves, i think the first entry in mine was a flight to Aussie when i was about 7 or 8, in a T.E.A.L. Lockheed L-188 Electra!!
Loads of other entres, including DC-8s, DC-3s, F-27s, Viscounts,B737-200s.
Oh to be that young again.......................

I'm glad I remembered your post here!

I am thinking of recreating the Antarctic Flight Seeing tours that ANZ used to fly int he DC-8's before the Mount Erabus crash, and am looking for the aircraft you have screenshots of above.

I had a look at avsim but couldn't find anything- could you please provide a link for me?

P.S. What did you do onboard for entertainment the old airliners on long haul flights like the ones logged in your junior jet club above? Also, do you have any photos of the interior of one of these DC-8's? I'd be really interested to see if you do

I don't remember DC8's ever going to Antarctica either. Remember the cover up by AirNZ and the Govt, Muldoon overturning Justice Mahon's decision, Mahon dies and then gets proved right. Cover Ups are so common. 245T , exclusive bretheren!
I've been watching a series on youtube called 'The Disclosure Project'. It's about 350-400 credible Pilots, Military people and astronauts wanting to testify to congress about UFO's and Aliens etc... Simply because the world deserves to know.
One of the best documented is the Kaikoura one in 1978 or 79 in a Safe Air Argosy.
Another job for the Retro developers, (Putting in the 3 UFO's)
There's hours of viewing. The 'Bob Lazar' stuff is good for the engineering and propulsion systems of alien spacecraft. If you're not a believer you will be after watching that and the 'greatest story never told'.

Excuse my ignorance- I am a fairly new to the country, and am not clued up on NZ history as much as I should be. I'm sorry if I offended anyone there.

Last night I did a quick search of Wikipedia for ANZ Flight 901, and say that the aircraft was an DC-*, and instantly thought of this post. The McDonnell Douglas aircraft are a bit before my time really, and I can't identity them the same way as the Boeing and Airbus familys

Anyway, I really like the aircraft in your screenies Matt, so if you could send me a link I would still like to fly it, maybe on a Trans Tasman route instead of down to Antartica.

On the otherhand, if anyone knows of a flyable ANZ DC-10 (I know the retro AI pack has cargo AI versions doesn't it?), then I'd also love a download link.

Aircraft was a DC-10 Andrew. Registration ZK-NZP. Air New Zealand flight number TE901. Out of respect for those that lost friends or family aboard 901, (including myself and Tracy), we left the NZP rego out of the Retro AI pack.

It was said at the time that everyone in NZ new someone in some way that lost their life on flight 901.
Surely that must have been an exageration,but in my case it was the Orthodontist who had put braces on my sisters teeth the week before the fatal flight that he was taking with his daughter as a 21st birthday present.
I have the book and have read it many times. I find it amazing that the actual person who typed the co-ordinates in which were wrong by two degrees, was never named or held to account, or the person that did the maths and changed those figures and gave instructions to that person.
It was an amazing coincidence that the 2 degree error in Auckland meant they were 35miles from where they thought, but the landscape features were the same as what they were expecting, albeit in minature,but they would have been glad to get a gap in the heavy cloud to see any feature at all.
They always want to blame pilot error to save money, and it was a government owned airline, yet the Prime Minister Muldoon was able to reject Peter Mahons findings? How was that possible? The now infamous phrase 'an orchestrated litany of lies' led by Morrie Davies CEO of Air NZ at the time will never be forgotten.
Air NZ has been beyond a joke ever since, in recent times crying to the Govt for a billion dollars and shortly after that announced a massive fleet replacement even though the aircraft they had were far from old, in fact already at the time one of the youngest fleets in the world.
They went on to sink Ansett and rip off all the workers yet still gave themselves (the top execs) a huge performance bonus.
Air New Zealand pride of the pacific. Is that a fact?

I don't have the plane installed on the PC at this time, and I cannot remember where I got it from! It may be on one of the many backup disks I have, I'll have a look. The read-me should point us to where it's hosted, alternatively I can host it for whoever wants it (if I find it lol)

Edit: I found it!! First DVD I put in. It came from the Historic Jetliners Group however it seems their site is under redevelopment, so if you want I will zip it and host it.

Also Codge bud I suspect you might be Australian as most Aussie I know fail to recognise that the Aussie Government must shoulder some of the blame for the demise of Ansett not only for not regulating a fleet in Aussie skies properly but by keeping the market too regulated and forcing ANZ to buy a decrepid airline (stupid decision where they didnt do thier homework of course but there you go)

Thanks for those file names there, I have got the basepack now.

I couldn't find your mentioned panel on either flightsim.com or avsim, but I found 'dc10-fs9.zip' which I am downloading instead.

I also can't find 'midjets.zip', what website can I find that on?

Also, what are so ex-real world DC-1O routes (apart from Antartica), did they fly the trans Tasman flights?
