Oh yeah, good idea, Charl.
This thing is a lot of fun to fly, better than I thought it would be. I will get around to some screenshots, but two things have held me up tonight -- first, I'm getting crashes in both sims following the installation of a new hard drive. Hopefully just a conflict which I can fix.
The other thing is the Shining. I forgot what an entertaining -- and download creepy -- movie this is.

So have Charl and Robin both got it already? Is it worth the $ guys?

The only reason I am considering buying it is the freeware model rates fairly low IMO compared to other freeware FS2004 warbirds, and the RNZAF scheme has really thick lines all over it which look a little unrealistic and distract me...

Oh, and smoke I'm told is operable from VC switches, various colours too!

Trolly the flight model is not quite...Harvard.
The general standard is maybe 1.5x freeware, but I'm happy enough.
I was happy enough with the freeware one too, though

Is it worth it? Quite expensive, and not the best aircraft I've ever bought.
But I've always had a soft spot for it, and I don't think I'll ever regret it:) It is fun to fly, and with some nice local paints it'll be a favourite for a while, I think.

Soft Spot ... when u are brought up on them over the top until 10 in the evenings sometimes .....indeed : along with the Devons , now those were the days B)

Hey ya Andrew , that would not be an issue , I guess your Carenado Cessna would be more F/rate hungry .... maybe wait , till further Screen shot posted , A freeware Havard is still in the workings .

Does the engine choke and splutter when inverted like the real harvard? This would be very cool!!!

Well...the real Harvard can fly inverted for 10 seconds, then the oil feed goes and the engine fries.
The carb I'm told is pressure-fed so the engine does not cut out under negative G.
However, if like me you prefer it to go quiet when downside up, the good people at ALPHA advise,
Change this aircraft cfg line to read as follows:
fuel_metering_type=1

Smoke! sputter! now this is a great aircraft.

Hmm, I was having some problems with the PC at the time, and since then you've managed to come up with some good shots, so I put it on hold.
I've done a bit of an upgrade this week, RAM to 2GB, and a 250GB SATA drive. I was getting crashes from both sims, which was a bit annoying. I've never installed a SATA before, so I had no idea how it worked, and was in the dark for a bit.
In the end I used the technique I normally use first, but didn't think of this time -- resetting the ESCD. I must be getting old.
Funny, though, I still get the odd system restart with the Harvard cockpit.

Ive downloaded a couple of alphasim aircraft and Im not that impressed with any of them, not for the price they are charging anyway. Id rather wait for a decent freeware one than buy theirs

Same as any franchise, it has ups and downs.
I loved their Flanker. And their Sea King is still a favourite.
