Virtavia A-4 Review?

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby J7G » Mon Jan 07, 2013 2:17 am

Aloha all,

I'm about two or so weeks away from getting a new system and am looking at the A-4 for my first purchase but I can't seem to find too many reviews. I'm sure I saw around here somewhere that the flight model is pretty rubbish- is that true? I can't seem to find it again but that could be because it's 0315... !

I'm quite happy with what I can see about the externals and the cockpits but I am interested in the flight model and the systems too. Are they realistic? I know a few guys around here have a lot of experience with the model.

Cheers!

I do a little review and screens later today for you , I like it straight out simply because it is a A4 also suits me with aircraft carriers , i ve been reading my A4 books and learning more about the aircraft but end of the day many aircraft have incorrect flight dynamics and with Accu-Feel 2 on the horizon may turn it into a little beaut .

Thanks Ian, I would really appreciate that mate! I know we can't expect perfection in our world but I don't really like it if the FM is like, say, the Saturn rockets biggrin.gif

I'm interested in this model too and maybe a purchase in the future...there is a service pack coming for some FDE issues. Read this thread here at SOH - one of the posters is a ex A-4G pilot I believe.

I have all my Skyhawk books out and building the airfile using Accu-feel V2, currently doing screens .. from the very start , the Virtavia was null on everything adjusting setting now changes it very much , just been adjusting weights to bring it on following writings by Admiral Kirksey running in onto a target 50/100 feet at 500 knots during Vietnam .

I saw that but honestly I'm always wary about reviews that are posted on the maker's site...this isn't just restricted to flight sim either.

Not wanting to Hijack the thread .... but i spent the day today (and again tomorrow) working on old 05 . Still a bit of spraylat and tape residue to remove.
Was nice to be back amongst it again. Will get some pics for you tomorrow. Interesting to note she was the last A-4 to fly here ... poor old girl, sitting there with all her guts sitting beside her.

Also , we will start on the Air Macchi this week as well ..... boys are reading all the books at the moment.

Move this if you want to Doug.

Here we are playing with the first settings .. Remember turn the aircraft on/off settings you have two green buttons - The first sheet is the A4 Default

Many changes do happen to the A4 .. I adjusted the stall AOA to 10.3 and got the near designed stall at 106.1 < that exact but FSX very close

Think i still need a good play .. more the reading the graphs from Skyhawk books that take the time , another our 'K's were slightly higher rated engines so it guessing the loads to compare the real .

Were they? I thought they decided in the end to not change the engines during Kahu.

Difference between the E/F , the Ks were standard and higher rated engine of the J52 P6 was P8B/C almost similar to your Classic 737 200

Ah so they were. I've got the RAN A4G NATOPS manual, which according to the ALL KNOWING WIKI, has the same engine as the K. Do you want me to look up some numbers for you?
