Great post , thank you
Heh. I know what you mean about the download frenzy Splitpin! In FS2004 I had a rule that I'd only add an aircraft if I'd seen the type in real life, as a restriction against going mad (and you can... I was reading someone's download notes who claimed to be in the process of converting his 10,000 installed aircraft to FSX!). When I installed FSX a few months ago, I set about duplicating my FS2004 hangar. A few were incompatible, fell by the wayside or were replaced by FSX equivalents. You know how it goes, while you're looking around for replacements, you just happen to notice others and can't resist clicking...
The Comet's an amazing sight in real life, hopefully my photos have given a good impression of it. It's immense! I'm not really into large airliners but this shows every bit of the usual de Havilland flair and surely must be one of the most beautiful machines ever to fly.
The freeware Comets are, as you say, brilliantly done. I'd definitely recommend adding the custom Aeromusica soundsets if you don't have them already. The download includes one but there are additional releases specific to each engine type which add a whole new dimension to them. A superb rendering of the Nimrod by Brian Franklin of Simshed has just come out as well, if you want to complete the family
A few more freeware favourites:
Fokker Dr.I by Neoqb. ZK-FOK replica repaint by Krzysztof Winiecki. This was released as a taster for the Great War combat sim Rise of Flight and is quite hard to find now although repaints are on the main flightsim sites. Although the FSX flight model is apparently not as authentic as in Rise of Flight itself, it's a really impressive rendering of the aircraft.
Virtual cockpit and yes, all the instruments do work!
BAE Systems Harrier by IRIS Simulations. Former payware for FS2004. It flies in FSX with only a couple of minor issues. Rob Barendregt's VTOL/hover control gauge really makes this older release come alive and fixes issues in FSX with incompatible gauges.
Virtual cockpit.
Airbus A380 by Project Airbus. Having flown back from NZ on one last year I just had to include this. A superb freeware model available both for FS2004 and FSX native with a number of liveries and versions available.
No virtual cockpit or panel for this one yet, so you have no choice but to enjoy the comforts of first class![]()
Of the ones previously mentioned, of course Deane's Fletcher and Cresco are works of brilliance and essential for anyone's hangar. Nigel Booth's CT4E is exceptionally good as well. I'd love his version of Cliff Tait's "Miss Jacy" for FSX - she's the only plane I haven't been able to replace from FS2004. Add another fan of David Garwood's Auster Autocrat and Hawker Hunter here. The former has some good NZ repaints available.
Hmmm, that T45 Goshawk on the last page is very tempting too

Where can I find the Fokker?

The developer's site is indeed closed but I found it via a link posted on the Rise of Flight forums. Google "fokker neoqb" and you should see it
