Looks a goody , only the E model tho , Australia operated the C and further supplied the G model for attrition loss's from the USAF .

Will yes (I remember both prangs) plus they were a reasonably common sight here on the airshow circuit and military exercises (more so than probably any other combat aircaft from a foreign air Force)...another link to NZ is that it was at one stage the RNZAFs favoured replacement for the Canberras (not that was likely to happen in our wildest dreams)

Yes they were regular visitors. When I was agroundie on 5 Squadron (Orions) we were responsible for dealing with any visiting strike jets. I remember well marshalling one of those beasts onto its parking spot one day for the first time. It was quite daunting.

Which reminds of the poem which summed up the crashes at the time:

A daring young pilot called Kevin
Flew in an F111
He took with a roar
At six forty four
And he crashed at a quarter to seven !

Forget the IRIS F14 for a whiles , the F111 punching holes in the low southerly cloud , afterburners glowing as the cloud filled back in again , course were is Wigram again angry.gif
