AirSimmer A320 Basic Edition released

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby deeknow » Sun Nov 08, 2009 7:59 am

Well the moment all the Bus fans have been waiting for is here, mostly. AirSimmer have released the Basic Edition of their A320

http://www.airsimmer.com/

turns out there are still a number of bugs, and according to the following statement from the website they will be adressing these with patches over coming months..

QUOTE
Although it was always our intention to release a completely bug free product, the realities of the current economic crisis effecting all of us to some measure, have forced us to reconsider and to release the Basic edition before each and every bug has been fixed. Although we are proud of what the team has accomplished thus far, we want to categorically state that, even though none of the remaining bugs are critical to product performance, we are by no means satisfied with the state of the product. We are absolutely aware of every bug currently unfixed in the Basic edition and commit to you that our team will not rest until they are dealt with through frequent updates via the AirSimmer Tablet PC.[/quote]

there's a nice show-case on youtube too...

I will have a look at this one when the bugs are sorted , In the late 80s there was a simulation simply called AIRBUS this before my IBM days , it limitations were obvious by today,s standards , if the bus is to take over the skies over New Zealand i guess i had better get to no them a little better .

This will be a great add on but I do question the logic in releasing a known buggy one. There is nothing more annoying than buggy software. Perhaps the bugs are the reason for a basic and advanced version and the delay with the latter. Either that or they are sure that it wont really be noticed by the vast majority of users.
There seems to be a great deal of work going on with this package so it is probably well worth the US$89 price tag.

Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

I do wonder , if it being BUGGY .. is this with the Win7 64bit OS , Why post problems rather than waiting for them to be fixed , sounds more like the real Airbus product trying to find answers to the real life crash's , Buggy ..hmm, I wont further digress or assume .. $90 New Zealand dollars will be a tall order to fill , and to boot will it work with Win7 .

I think I might have to get the advanced version when it comes out, all the airlines have them. It might just get me back into Vatsim

That and the PMDG 737 NGX biggrin.gif
With the new voice FS2Crew 2010 biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
And FSPassengers biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

There's no way it's a USD90 aeroplane, but once they get the bugs worked out it looks like they will have quite a nice USD40 'lite' plane.

For USD 40 I don't expect a full FMS.

Actually looking at the videos and degree of authenticity in the systems and modeling I would say that it is worth the US$90. That is approx what PMDG are asking. This model includes a very nifty tablet PC for loading, fuel load and performance etc. a very comprehensive package and one I will opt for when released.

Oh hell yes the full package will certainly be a USD90 plane, and I'll be adding that to my fleet whether we get an upgrade discount or not. Waka and I were talking about the 'basic' version that has just been released.

It's called "unpaid beta testers". Which is a bit ironic, as all the "beta testers" have actually PAID for the product.

On the face of it, it seems like a pretty cheapskate way of doing business, but flight sims are such a minority market that I can't see how anyone can push out any add-on with the 1,000's of man-hours required that could please us hard-core nerds for anything less than $1,000 laugh.gif

All I would hope for is that the developers *listen* to the feedback and give us the impression that they may even act on it winkyy.gif

It sure is getting bad press on the forums. I think they will rue the day they released this in it's current format.
