AI Aircraft

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby sundayflyer » Sun Jun 04, 2006 4:31 pm

Hi All,

New member just joined up.
The question!
I have only had the default AI aircraft flying around NZ.
I want to change all that by downloading AI aircraft & repaints.
I know how to do this & make up flight plans etc I think.
Where can I obtain these AI aircraft from?
I see the list provided on this forum appear to be aircraft that you can fly.
Can thet be changed to AI aircraft without effecting frame rates?
The various flight sim sites have plenty of AI aircraft but not in ANZ paint schemes.
Project AI appears to have some but you need to install there PAI installer. What does this do to FS9 if you download there aircraft.
Anyway if somebody can help with some files it would be appreciated.
Thankyou.
Daryl

Welcome to the forums sundayflyer!

I use Ultimate Traffic for my AI aircraft as I have no clue about setting up AI routes, so I payed $50 and had it all done for me.

This way around it is obviously less time consuming as you don't have to download all the aircraft and repaints yourself.

As for:
Where can I obtain these AI aircraft from?

Have you tried www.ai-aardvark.com ?
AVSIM has some good Great Barrier Airlines AI.

Can thet be changed to AI aircraft without effecting frame rates?

I don't know about the linked ones in the forum, but UT definitely effect rates when the traffic slider is at 100%.

Sorry I can't help more, I am sure someone with some more knowledge on the subject will be along soon.

In the mean time, have a read of this topic: http://s11.invisionfree.com/nzff/index.php?showtopic=81

Hold it before you starting pushing payware then you should try Project AI!

Project AI is the freeware version of Ultimate traffic, thats been said by a lot of people before as they use the same models. Why pay when its just as good free?

The project AI installer does not affect FS9 other than adding aircraft! I have project AI installed with 99% of the available schedules and Airlines they have!

There are a couple of programmes around where you can tweak the schedules if you need to Traffic Tools is the backbone of this by Lee Swordy.

My own NZ flight plans have been tweaked to make use of better AI aircraft like Jon Murchisons AIS models. Using these does improve frame rates due to the LOD design.

Look hard enough and you will find NZ repaints of AI and a few schedules as well. I will advise against using flyable models for AI like posky etc as they Kill frame Rates even the default are frame killers.

Currently I am in the middle of a complete reinstall thanks to installing VOZ 1.2 that messed up the refinements I had for the AI for NZ, so thats set me back from giving you a listing of what I used. Due to real world commitments it will be a few weeks maybe months before I get around to checking thru it now if at all.

Just have a look at avsim and you will find plenty of AI aircraft relevant for New Zealand. I have managed to find good quality aircraft, both civil and military to make for a very busy, accurate, airspace all round New Zealand.

Also consider purchasing the AI Cessna pack from HTAI models. Great value and it comes with fantastic layered paintkits so that you can paint your own.

Traffic tools is also very easy to use. I suggest just copy and paste from an existing flightplan, and then just change one or two variables at a time until you get the hang of it.

If anyone has the HTAI Cessna pack and is interested in getting some Kiwi Cessnas flying around, I have done around 40 repaints so far. Some are on avsim (just search under 'jenks') and I have many more in progress.

Let me know also if you want a particular Cessna painted up for your simming. I'd be happy to oblige!
