I'm sure I've read about this before, but I can't find the relevant post.

I'm using Christchurch-1.7-full-install-240206 from NZScenery.com in FS9, and noticed when I performed an autoland at Christchurch that the ILS for RW20 is offset from the runway by a full runway width. Also the tower view seems to be set up to the wrong side of the runway. Does anyone have any suggestions for fixes? I can't find anything relevant on the NZScenery site, and their forum is no longer active.

If possible I would like to continue using this scenery. I've tried Ian Warrens Chch, but decided to move to this version because of the building crash issues in his version (sorry Ian, but if I turn off crash detection I'm never going to learn to land properly...)

Any suggestions gratefully received!

I would use a afcad tool to set up a new tower view and move the ILS so it works for you ,you can find these tools freeware on sites like avsim.
PS... afcad tools are pretty easy to use and quick to learn no extra things needed to use them ether ...

The AFCAD info for the NZScenery NZCH is hard coded into one of the scenery bgl's, and their site and release notes state that you shouldn't add other AFCAD files due to conflicts. I'd be willing to try anyway, but my experience with scenery creation/modification is limited.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular scenery addon?

I was invited by the Government to try and keep the New Zealand population down , yes its still working tongue.gif ....... nah biggrin.gif , I'm sure you can still break the plane on landing , the crash detection here only applies when you get close to a structure , the model building radius , for your learning to land properly , turn all realistic aircraft setting up ! then you would really have to be careful ! .. blow your mind and and your landing .

Hmmm... why do I have memories of bouncing the plane down the runway on landing with crash detection off... <shakes head> what's next? Memory is already going... Never mind.

What version are we at for your excellent version of NZCH? And is it still findable at avsim? My failing memory tells me I could only find older buggy versions of you CHCH scenery in the library. I may have a version 5.1 if that ever actually existed. I'm running FS9 with the red baron 20m mesh and landclass (+ the value pack FS9 edition of Robin Corns's sceneries for many other places in NZ).

In any case, thanks for responding! I can live with not being able to crash into buildings, but landing a 747 in the grass verge of the runway is a bit much, even for me ;-)

All Christchurch NZCH scenery and AFCADs are posted at Flightsim.com , the last sentence , im sure you are missing the AFCAD .

Thanks for the site pointer. You misunderstand me about the 747 landing though, that happened with the NZScenery version of CHCH. Funniest thing I've ever seen, after a long flight from Singapore, the mighty jumbo settled onto the grass! biggrin.gif Thank god I was using simulated ATC, a real controller would have had kittens (not to mention my poor passengers!). Strangely enough, even though I have the realism settings at max, the plane didn't complain at all. Must be very hard ground after baking in the Norwesters for weeks winkyy.gif

I am probably missing the right AFCAD for your CHCH though, since after removing the NZScenery version and adding yours, I found that the ILS approach seemed to be missing the glideslope. Now that I know where to look, I should be able to fix that little problem toot sweet. Thanks again for the help and tips!

Yes; have removed all reference to the hideous green grass aero club strip, et cetera. Simply need to break the NZCH.bgl open with BGLAnalyse and edit the appropriate entries with Notepad and then recompile. Of course, you will need to find out the exact location (in decimal format) of the ILS.

I got the ILS position OK but it does not compile correctly (makes a larger BGL file) I used SCASM 2.96 what did you use?

You'll need bglcomp.exe, available in the FS2004 bglcomp SDK. When you crack open the .NZCH.bgl there will also be a number of .mdl files (4 from memory). Edit your NZCH.xml file (with Notepad), save, select it and the 4 .mdl files and drag them (as a group) over the bglcomp.exe icon, let it compile and ... voila!

Hope that's of some assistance.

Hi Dorian

I used bglanalyse version 1 to open this file (I think nzch.bgl is a 2002 file). I does not open as a XML file. Then I tried it with BGLanalyse9 (draging the file over the Aplication in a folder) A dos box flashes but no XML file. Any futher help?

Works my end with both BGLAnalyse9 and NewBGLAnalyse. Sorry, have no idea why it's not working your end.

EDIT: The problem may be that I am using the standalone Airport scenery rather than the full install? Though why that would make a difference I do not know.

I have the nzwn_04v1.zip Installed, Is this correct? It's wierd all the other file crack and compile OK.

Ah! Bingo!! That's Ian's NZCH!!!

Unfortunately, we're talking very different sceneries here.

I thought you were trying to crack open John Haine's NZCH (which compiles with bglcomp.exe). Yes, you will have problems trying to recompile any SCASM-based .bgl over 500kb (at least I have in my expereince).

I'm also using the John Haines Christchurch scenery from NZScenery.com. I haven't had any problem with an ILS offset (Nalbers, I wonder if you have another NZCH AFCAD file buried in your sceneries that might cause a conflict). With this scenery however, all references to all approaches (ILS, VOR, Yaldhurst transition etc) have been wiped. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it possible to use BGLAnalyse to bring them back?

As it happens, I eventually did find another CHCH afcad tucked away in a scenery folder... No more offset problems with CHCH for me! I don't miss the missing approach information, since i never use the builtin GPS or default ATC anyway. Most of the planes I fly use navigraph AIRAC data which includes the proper SID and STAR information.
