As I have nearly completed the Fletchers (Just para version to go) I have decided its time to drag out some scenery. Hawera is one I've been working on to slowly get FSX scenery design processes working. As Che is doing New Plymouth I hope this compliments that nicely. Have also colourised some B&W aerial photos to make some photoreal ground Texs. Its not as good as the ground Texs could be, but will suffice.

The main issue I have is my 3D design program FSDS 3.5 does not handle transparent Textures in FSX SP2 - Thanks Microsoft for stuffing things up again. Either the transparent areas block the objects behind, or the opaque area allows other textured scenery to bleed thru !!!

I think i should have listened to Rob three plus years back , with all the time with FSDS - could have learnt 3Dmax/Gmax better

As for your ground textures and autogen :) ..... superb

I've tried to kick off projects in GMAX three times now but it just frustrates the heck out of me. I was hoping I could pull this scenery into GMAX, but the exporter from FSDS does not work for the later versions of FSDS.

Yes - as I only have FSX, but there is always the possibility it may work for FS2004.

This looks fantastic Deane, I like the fact you have put lots of detail into the building which makes everything looks so much better, detail is everything B-)
I was gonna ask you if you were going to post any screen shots of your Hawera scenery but now you have.

I use 3ds max to make my sceneries and other work related projects.
What you could do Deane is make the areas that are giving you troubles (like the transparency's on the trees) in 3ds max/Gmax and places them in with your sceneries that were made with FSDS. That way you don't have to redo the entire project in another programme.
If you want I can create some trees for you in 3ds max, for you to use with your scenery if thats what you are having trouble with?

Note sure about the ground textures myself. Too low of a resolution perhaps? Or is it just a classic case of FS blurries? The buildings themselves look fab tho!

A bit of both - these are older 4.8m per pixel textures and are colourised from B&W. If we could get up to date colour in 2.5m per pix all would be good.
These textures look as good as any FS2004, but not as good as FSX can do.
