No sooner had I bemoaned the fact that there is no decent grass in FS, Bingo! here are some revised grass textures.
Called PicNic from AVSIM, there are several options to choose from.
I'm still looking at various locations, but I reckon it's a definite maybe.

So, how does it play with snow and sand? Photoreal Grass played havoc with these two particular textures, hence it was consigned to the trashcan.

Sand? Sand?? There's no sand, this is FS9!
Snow does look a little like a patchwork quilt I see.
Not something I'd want to use when visiting St Moritz over December, perhaps.
Might this be a permanent feature we are stuck with - smooth snow or photograss but not both?

I might have to give this one a try. It doesn't look too bad in those pictures there, whats it like from a distance Charl, such as 35,000ft? I do notice it doesn't look that great up too close eathier. What I really like is the grass in Wellington, between the main down the 34 end, yet absent from the 16 end, that is great grass that thow.

Thanks
James

Grass at 35,000ft viewing distance, James??
I think it may be best viewed at hi-res, this at 1900x1200 looks quite interesting.

It'll depend on your monitor too, CRT will be too contrasty.
There's some work to be done, but anything to get away from that stock green smear...

Charl- I'm just wondering how you got the grass to appear in that screenie above from Picton- isn't that area covered in photoreal textures?

Yeah...There appears to be a bit that isn't covered.
Mind you, my Picton area is also covered with bits that climb out of the water.
