Scenery Library - pecking order

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Bazza » Wed Oct 03, 2007 9:30 am

I have seen this posted before but can't find it now I need it...?

I recently did a big re-install into a new computer, which for me went better than expected.

I decided to do a bit of housekeeping and deleted and swapped stuff around (as you do.)

I then found I'd lost my water effects from Real NZ Tauranga and Rotorua. Solved this by putting my
75M Mesh below these airports in the Scenery Library. I had deliberately put the mesh about them as I thought
I had read somewhere that this was the way it should be.

Can someone advise me what is thought to be the correct order.

There is also the question as the where NZ Water and Lakes etc go.

I suspect that shifting the priority of the mesh didn't make the difference -- you probably have the landclass scenery in the same folder? In my experience landclass covers photoreal if it is higher up the list. In fact landclass is pretty much the only situation where I have priority problems.
In general, though, it works for me if I put large-scale scenery -- such as mesh, landclass, topo -- tucked in just before Addon Scenery (lower on-screen), and everything else after.

It might just be a glitch peculiar to my set-up, but there's no question, if I put the Red Baron above those airports, the waterfront recedes about a mile.
Never mind, at least we're up and running again. Unless I have mis-interpreted things, Real Tauranga and Rotorua aren't photo-real ?
