Norfolk Island International Airport. YSNF

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Snowman » Sat Sep 15, 2007 12:33 am

Just uploaded to Avsim..............................
Norfolk Island International Airport. YSNF.
should be available soon.

filename,.......................... norfolk_island_ysnf_2007.zip,.............. ID ........ 222051
or type my name , Lawrie Roache, into the file library search field at avsim.

While not strictly a New Zealand Airport, its near enough for me, as its a popular tourist holiday destination for New Zealanders, not far off our shores, and Air New Zealand did fly regular scheduled flights to there, and its a great stepping stone for international GA flights from New Zealand.
You will need to have the Norfolk Island "Fix" from here,.... http://www.virtualvfr.com/tassim/au_lc.zip , installed first, before install of the scenery. This changes Microsofts rather erronous Norfolk Island from 90% water in FS9, to an actual island with landmass, more like the real thing.
A few pics....................

Thanks Mark.
I hope you like it. Its not 100% accurate, but then it cant be, it uses buildings from the Runway-12, EZ-Scenery, and default FS9 libraries. The general layout of the airport is reasonably correct though. I did it from some pics i gleaned from Google, and also an Air Services Australia aerodrome chart.
As far as i can tell, its the only freeware YSNF scenery out there, unless of course one gets included in any of the newer versions of VOZ (last version i tried was 1.2).
Any comments on the scenery (good or bad), would be welcomed, especially from anyone that has actually been there in real life. (last and only time i was there was about 23 years ago).

Awesome- A decent scenery for the island is a good excuse for me to fly there again in the sim!

The last and only time I've visted was during the old Trans Tasman Endurance Flight when I had default scenery!

Amazing isnt it Charl................................... blink.gif (stunned mullet look)

DARREN..........................
#1 I very much KNOW the terminal isnt correct. Ive been there. All the buildings in the scenery are only from available objects in the Runway-12, EZ-Scenery,, and default FS9 object libraries.
#2 NOWHERE did i state that the scenery had photoreal buildings as per the original real life ones.
#3 I also KNOW there isnt a tower there, but i added one anyway using a little "modellers licence" as its known.
#4 The scenery was built to fit the default runway headings................
#5 Congratulations to your friend whos building the "real" terminal buildings. Its a really nice looking set of buildings in real life.
#6 I would appreciate a look at the "real" buildings when they are finished.
#7 If anybody is unhappy with the looks of the FREE scenery, the options are simple, UN-INSTALL the thing. Couldnt be SIMPLER than that.
