North Shore Airfield AFCAD for FSX

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby ZK-MADMAX » Mon Aug 27, 2007 10:06 pm

Hey guys

I made a near Photoreal AFCAD file for North Shore (NZNE) about 2 months ago now, and was planning on doing the scenery for it also. But it turns out my comptuer cant handle Object Placer and restarts every time i try to place a object lol.

I would really appreciate it if someone (preferably experienced with Scenery creating) could give me a hand to finish the 'photoreal' North Shore Airfield and eventually release it on avsim.com or somewhere like that. I live about 2 minutes down the road from North Shore so i have been there many times and flown there a few, and would love to make a photoreal north shore for FSX.

cheers
Max

Is this for FSX max, I could see if I could merge it with my North Shore, even though it is not entrily photo-real.

I can place things in FSX if required (using the object placement tool)... and FS9 for that matter...

Or are you wanting actual models built? I may be able to help out with this too... but I will warn you that I am only just getting started using gmax etc. But I managed to 'mostly' model my house last night in about 3 hours...

granted, some of the roof textures were sideways (still sussing out texturing with tiling and rotating etc), and it did not have any doors or windows... but its a start smile.gif

hey guys

thanks for the quick show of interest

creator2003: Yes North Shore is an awesome little airfield, its a shame about ZK-TZJ the Robin 2120U that crashed in the South Island

Scott: yes it is for FSX biggrin.gif

HardCorePawn: What i would really like to be done is a very good Photoreal North Shore, so custom models would be prefered but i guess if all else fails, the models with Object placer should do, although i have no idea if they look like the real thing lol

I can provide Photos of North Shore for better accuracy, all i used for the AFCAD was some photos i took and the aip charts for it

cheers guys

North Shore really is crying out for a midlife update from the FS2000 stuff to hand.
'Twould be very good if a decent FS9 model could be catered for...

there is already a near photoreal North Shore for FS2004. It is the Auckland Scenery 2005 package. However it does not work with FSX

The scenery you are referring to was made for FS2000, and it is showing its age.
If you're aiming to do no better than that for FSX, I'd say you're wasting your time, to be honest.
The whole point of FSX is that it has all these graphics bells and whistles.

One could make a photoreal FS9 scenery in GMax and tweak it for FSX, I believe.
That way you'd be guaranteed a user audience...

I don't want it for FS9, to be honest i couldn't care less about FS2004 lol. I still have the discs and all, but it isn't installed on my pc. I have moved on to the newer version of Flight Simulator, FSX

Your choice, obviously.
For those who haven't moved on to the newer version of Flight Simulator, FSX, it is now available from Gameplanet Store, at a special price to encourage you even more:
Microsoft Flight Simulator X -- only $69.95, save $30 today only!
