Hey all,

Why is it I can max out all my settings and get 30fs (locked) but the minute I add a 3rd party airport it slows to a crawl. Auckland 2005 reduces my frames to a crawl of about 13-15fps and Queenstown 19fps, and so on.... What's with that? Do these scenery designers have super computers? Why can my system cope with hundreds of autogen buildings and trees but not an airport?

Anyway, I downloaded Auckland International v1.5 and thats very frame happy, but I loose the city buildings from Auckland 2005, does anyone know the bgl files for this area?

Also I noticed building crashes for Nelson and Mt Cook airport addons. Is there a way to fix this or is it the designers fault?

Cheers!

P.S. I'm glad people are making scenery as I'm useless at it, it'd just be nice for it to be a bit more friendly to my computer.

Hi!

Well, I do have to admit, I take a fairly big hit from Auckland 2005 too, but Very Good frames from Queenstown. I have no idea why??

Depends on your viewing angle in queenstown. Most angles are fine, but there's a couple where you can see almost everything at low altitude and get a fair hit! A lot of people on here use these freeware airports, does it not annoy you? I hate jerky frame rates sad.gif

What sort of system do you have Gazz? Usually any detailed add-ons will reduce performance, but I personally think its worth the 'sacrifice' of frames. winkyy.gif

This is because these scenerys were designed for FS8, so there are problems such as performance and the building crashes with them in FS9. winkyy.gif

You might want to try a payware scenery such as Robins Wellington, or a freeware such as Heaths Christchurch. You will find they are alot better on perforamce. biggrin.gif

Its not new, but not bad. 7900GT combined with a Athlon 3800+ X2 and 2GB RAM on a fast SATA drive. Like I said, the second you add some of these airports it drops dramatically. And I can't stand a jerky game, its horrible. You try turning down the density of buildings but its either all there or none at all!

Perhaps its as Jimmy said, but isn't Auckland 2005 designed for fs9? Thanks for the suggestions Jimmy, I'll give the freeware NZCH a try.

BTW, no-ones answered my question yet smile.gif Does anyone know the bgl files I'd need to keep for the city buildings?

Hey Jimmy,
Where can Heath's Christchurc be found? Did a search on Avsin and Flightsim and it was fruitless.

Seems if you delete NZAA.bgl from the Auckland 2005 scenery and then put Auckland International 1.5 at a higher priority it works quite well. Might be an idea for people who are interested in better framerates than perfect realism.
