Hi Everyone,

I am creating New Plymouth scenery for Flight Simulator. No one has done anything about New Plymouth so far, so I have decided to finish a project that I started many years ago, but never completed. It gets rather depressing flying into my home town airport, with only blocks as buildings awaiting you.

These are my first attempt from about three years ago, I think FS2002. I never got around to finishing this project and I could not convert it over to the newer versions of Flight Simulator, as there were compatibility issues, so I have to start from scratch.
As you can see this was half finished, but it should give you an idea of what it will look like when newer scenery is finished.

These are screenshot from 3ds max showing the development of the building in their early stages. The scenery shouldn't be finished for a while yet, I have lot of other project to get done. There is a new back road behind the rear trees since this aerial photo was taken. They keep changing the airport so much that it is hard to keep up!

As for the New Plymouth city itself, I will try and get that done after the airport. I am doing the CGI for a movie which involves New Plymouth city. This involves mapping the city completely virtually. I can convert the 3D model used in the movie and use them for Flight Simulator. The cool thing about FSX compared to FS2004 is they have mapped out all the roads in the country, this makes it very easy to place scenery objects in cities.

WOW, WOW, and WOW
NZNP finally. I created a fair representation of it about 2 years ago using Runway-12, but this looks really great  .
Cant wait for that to appear. Is it for FS9 or FSX ??

Wow, looks brilliant!

Photoreal grass next to the sealed runway, rather than default FS grass makes such a difference on landing and takeoff (like REAL NZ NZWN).

Please tell me this is compatable with fs2004???

Awesome sig by the way- what model a320 and paint is that there?

Fantastic stuff - look forward to that.

Now if only the photoreal textures covered the whole of Taranaki and not just a portion from Mt Egmont and west.

Hopefully both version of Flight Simulator. Will start with FS2004 (because thats what im used to and it runs better on my machine) and it shouldn't take much for me to put it into FSX.

Im gonna try an get higher res airport images and use them as my grass runways, instead of the default grass runways.

I was the designer who designed the looney toons livery for the actual Freedom Air A320. I just used my original artwork from the design and used it to create this sig. I probably should have done a repaint but a few people have beat me to it.

I was thinking the very same thing Andrew.
I have had a number of requests from several people ot do an NZNP airport scenery, but im not going to put time into it, if this one is lurking on the Horizon. Going by the pics, this looks to be awesome.

Hi everyone,

I haven't forgotten about this project, just the other day I was thinking I should post something about it. I have been pretty busy my projects in my B.V.A so haven't done to much with this project, but I finish in November so I will have time to finished it then, shouldn't take to long.
Was out at NZNP the other day and found that they have changed all the carparks and now you have to pay! ohmy.gif Thats just another thing I have to add in.
